I just purchased me an 87 turbo II rx-7 for only 1350 dollars. I need to get some mufflers for it and it sounds like i might have to change the timing on it, but other than that it just needs some paint.

Just found out some things messed up on this thing. Has a crack in the intake hose right at the turbo and for some reason, it runs a little rough still and for some reason, it funs for like 10 minutes and then white smoke comes out of the left side of the radiator. It is also missing a right side muffler so I do not now if that might be affected something.

Check the compression of the engine first.

So now I have to find a replacement hose for the one going to the turbo. Also I am having some timing problems maybo. It starts sometimes and it reves nicely but for some reason it puts out some white smoke when reved up high. I took off the exhaust right after the main converter by the way. And when I took out the dipstick it has that milky look on the very top of the it and I wiped it off and its not there anymore but there is some on the crank angle sensor.
Can anyone help me with this problem? |

When it gets started and idles, you can drive it around and the gas pedal is in half way, but if you push it any farther it makes some wierd noking or detonation noise and then if you do not hold the gas a little it dies, but it still start when you kick start it.

Well now when it starts, it has white smoke coming out of the exhaust especially when the pedal is on the floor. It also seems that when I try to start it it struggles alittle like one wire is backwards or something.
Is the timing procedure the same on the Turbo II as it is on the n/a? |
test compression first. make sure you have a good engine before you start trouble shooting.

My oil had "frothy" bubbles in it from a tired turbo...

I just bought the part i needed from Buzz leonard for the mazda turbo for only a low low price of 200 smackers!

Alright, so I got my part in and bam! It starts up but flooded alot, but now it doesn't. I still have to adjust the timing a little more because I can get it down to 750 but it almost dies and there is this noise by the turbo that makes a whining noise. I think my Turbo might be going bad. Is there any way you could check it?

Im about to this week because I just hade to change my brakes on my other 7. I was also wondering if there is a way to check the turbo and intercooler and any other important items i need to check.

I did a compression test on it and got 95 for the front and 73 for the rear. I just put some MMO to build up that little compression I need. Now it does not stall out anymore and it runs at 850. It still shakes alittle though. Since the turbo has the oil cooler how much longer does it extend the life of it?
