i have a JDM TII motor and USDM N/A tranny.....both S5.

does it matter if i use a n/a cluth set up or a turbo II one? im just gonna buy some off brand ebay set up for now. its just a daily...

fc3sboy1 03-12-2007 05:54 PM

na flywheel and clutch due to the starter location and size of clutch. but im afraid that set up isnt goin to last very long. tranny problems very soon more then likly for you.

jwteknix 03-12-2007 05:56 PM

u will need the tII clutch i got the xtd sprung 6 puck from ebay and i must say it is a good clucth

sen2two 03-12-2007 06:02 PM

ok so....thats one vote i need the n/a one. and another vote i need the TII.

and the xtd 6 puck is what i was looking at right now.

jwteknix 03-12-2007 06:18 PM

well ur engine should have the tii flywheel on it witch in pretty sure that ull need a tii clutch for but as far as the splines being the same on the tII cluch disk as the n/a trans i dont know

RotaryVillain 03-12-2007 06:34 PM

there is absolutely no way you should be using an n/a clutch & tranny with a TII engine.

it will not last at ALL. just buy a TII tranny, they can be had for quite affordable.

^^ftw

like i said before, if using a na tranny you need a na clutch and flywheel due to starter and also tranny spline but the na trannies dont hold **** for power, not even stock boost . just convert to a t2 drive line or have a crap load of spare na trannies set asside and prepare to swap often.

well...i been running the N/A tranny for about 6 months now with no problems. and whatever stock clutch is in there has been pretty nice too...

sooo.....im not gonna upgrade the drivetarin until it breaks.

so what im think from what fc3sboy said....i might already have the n/a flywheel set up in there. (i bought it before the TII swap)

so i need the n/a clutch set up...

fc3sboy1 03-12-2007 08:47 PM

yes you need an na clutch, as far as the fly wheel goes i was mistaken,,,,,,,,, the first gen clutches and flywheels are a smaller dia, the t2 and second gen flywheels are the same dia, the bell housing on the t2 trannies mount the starter in a differnt position and as far as i am aware the na starter does not fit a t2 bell housing and visa-versa. but there is however a big differance in imput shaft splines on the t2 to na trannies so ya you need an na clutch.

and i hope you knocked on wood as you wrote that you have had no problems with your tranny as of yet, its comin, shoot a 70 shot of spray and a soft launch took out 1-3rd gear on my s5 na tranny and the ITS race car went threw 3 trannies this year and i am rebuilding the 4th after the 13hour enduro we last ran. so knock on wood man.
