well i have one question is the tranny crossmember 2 pieces?? hmmmm i gotta take a pic of it, i don't see how it connects to my tranny wtf? its sitting on a jack right now.

Turbo II 11-28-2002 12:52 PM

:bigok: , congrats, u got that done quick

BigTurbo74 11-28-2002 02:44 PM

we don't be bullshitin it round here....ha think we can hook up an entire engine transplant over a four day weekend?? we'll find out. haha

1Revvin7 11-28-2002 07:03 PM

damn problems keep running into. SO does anyone know if the Crossmember just bolts right up to the TII tranny or what? Cuz where it should bolt up, it looks like the tranny is missing a piece. The crossmember is in the shape of a V and the tranny is Flat So wtf?

hmm ****? wheres 13Bace at?

samps 11-29-2002 12:19 PM

If the car you transplanted the T2 tranny into used to be an automatic the mounts are located a few inches further back, and you will need to fab up a new mount. If the shell car was a manual then you may just need a new mount. Mazdatrix sells them for about $50. A pic of what you got would help alot.

He is in San Francisco you silly man.

Try looking online for a FSM pic of it, I have a 88 book.

j9fd3s 11-29-2002 12:21 PM

the 87-88 and 89+ mounts are different, so maybe you need later mount?

mike

samps 11-29-2002 12:25 PM

Oh ya; the series 4 mount is more like $75!

1Revvin7 11-29-2002 12:29 PM

the tranny i got is supposed to be an 88 so is the mount. Guess i shall look at the FSM

samps 11-29-2002 12:42 PM

the turbo and non-turbo mounts are also different. So you must have an 88 non turbo mount and an 88 turbo tranny!

1Revvin7 11-29-2002 12:42 PM

yeah i was thinking this, thats gonna piss me off cuz i said specifally TII TRANNY MOUNT

1Revvin7 11-29-2002 01:23 PM

peeped FSM doesn't show, they all look the same, and on mazdatrix is has the same picture for all of em, 86-91

samps 11-29-2002 01:47 PM

for some reason the non-turbo series 4 mount is the most expensive one. Turbo series 4 is $56. It is probably worth it to get a brand new one just so you don't need to worry about it latter. I'd even get the competition Y-block mount to prevent side to side motion while cornering. Clunks and clanks from the drivetrain do not inspire confidence!

1Revvin7 11-29-2002 01:48 PM

the tranny mounts bolt to the tranny right?

samps 11-29-2002 02:05 PM

The mount only attches to the tranny through a rubber bushing type thing. The Y-block does not attach to it at all. The tranny has a threaded stud sticking out of the bottom which goes through the rubber bushing in the mount. There is no direct contat between metal with the mount and tranny. My car has a manual swapped into an auto and it has a custom solid mount which translates alot of vibration to the shifter. It is strong though, and never needs replacement.

yes im missing this threaded stud peice. Lemme go check this **** to see what i got.

samps 11-29-2002 02:09 PM

I'm posting off of pure memory so some details may be questionable.

1Revvin7 11-29-2002 02:19 PM

well i just peeped it. Its modified. thats friggin why, the crossmember has competition mounts on it. The part the is supposed to thread to the tranny no longer exists, its welded. So how the **** is it supposed to attach to the tranny?????? im gonna draw it.

1Revvin7 11-29-2002 02:25 PM

heres my dilema

samps 11-29-2002 02:31 PM

I have no idea. Looks like you're gonna need to be a little creative. Maybe you could grind out the weld and thread in a new stud?

1Revvin7 11-29-2002 02:40 PM

i wonder what the hell those 4 holes are for though??? im broke.

Rob x-7 11-29-2002 02:59 PM

any random holes at this time can be used to attatch nooses. Reminds me of my first engine swap project, ran into one problem after another, and when your 17-18 and have little to no money even minor problems are major ones, I feel your pain. :puke:

pengaru 11-29-2002 03:34 PM

heh, you need to get some pics up.

1Revvin7 11-30-2002 02:04 AM

digi camera is coming in the mail https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png :bigthumg:
