exturnal oil presure gauge or do a oil presure test

if oil pump FAILED your car would probably be blown up already. Stock oil pressure gauge is crap at best do like the post above and check to make sure oil pressure is within spec for a given RPM

assuming you don't have a decent guage it will probably over heat shortly before it blows up and the car won't make for go anymore, then yer oil pump is dead https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif

how hard is it to install a after market one

The stock pump is considered fine for stock and mildly modified engines. The pressure sending units commonly fail. Some relevant reading here: http://www.racingbeat.com/FRmazda2.htm

easy as pulling the stock sending unit out , replacing the sending unit with the one from an aftermarket gauge or buying a pedistal adapter and mountin the sending unit into that.

randy

STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP! DON'T DRIVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My car ran 2k miles with a bad oil pump (well it wasn't bad, I was getting no pressure because the shithead that rebuilt it didn't screw the thing in all the way)

I was told by my old mechanic my gauge was crap and it was fine. WRONG. The gauge was working fine. It can sound like it is running fine, even with no oil pressure. I thought I was crazy when I thought something was just slightly "off" with my car. It did not overheat. Ever. It just gave up one night on the I-5 under an overpass.

Get an external gauge and check you pressure.

well i am pretty sure nothing is wrong i was just reading a old forum about oil pumps and i got worried, i changed the oil in my car and by the appearance of the oil i am pretty sure the oil pump is circulating the oil.
