I purchased an '86 NA "car in a barn". The motor was seized.
A replacement motor is about done but I won't be able to drive it until the brakes are done also. I have rebuild kits for all 4 calipers. I've only been able to remove one of the eight pistons in the front calipers. The pins are RIP (rusted in place) also. Would JDM Calipers from a '90 work? The pictures on Ebay look like they are the same. |
"JDM Brakes" is a crock. There are 2 different types of FC brakes, the heavy duty suspension type (4 pistons fronts, 5 lugs) and the base brakes (single piston, 4 lugs.)
The brakes do not vary from country to country, you just need to buy the proper replacement brakes for your car. If you have 5 lug wheels, you need, the 4 piston brake calipers. If you have 4 lug wheels, you have the base brakes/suspension. If you want to run the heavy duty brakes you MUST replace the wheels, hubs, rotors to 5 lug. |
Thanks for the response. I do have 4 piston calipers in front . The pictures of the ones I am looking at are also 4 piston calipers. The info says they are from a '90 that was recycled in Japan. I guess I'll take a chance on them...
