First of all i would like to welcome myself to this forum(all parts of it)

this is my first post! Ok my 86 GXL has 30k on dealers engine, and it

runs very good(for now at least) but its not making enough power,

i want to port it (j-bridge) is that a good idea? or should i buy a

J-SPEC ,,and rebuild and port that one? any help with this will be appreciated! TIA

Leo

personally jspec engines are only good if your gonna rebuild them. i would take your engine out and bridgeport it and possibly go with a racing beat carb setup. its ALOT of work to go turbo. you seem to have alot of money if you have a S500 and a hummer LOL

the nice thing about staying N/A is they are so damn reliable. that is something i miss :(

im sorry you got the impression that im all that rich,,,mistake,,,both vehicles are liened s5(leased) hummer (financed)(and i would like to mention that the hummer isnt specifically mine,,,its more my fathers) so dont think i layed out big cash ,,,lol https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/moon.gif although i wouldnt mind,,,really owning both of them,,,anyways to the real topic here,,,i defenately dont want to go turbo!

reliability is key (for me at least) plus going turbo ,,,costs a lot of money (like i said im not rich) ,,,you also said that i should carb it,,,why so? isnt fuel injection better??? maybe i was missinformed??? TIA Leo

JSpec = Turbo....so if you don't want turbo, then don't go jspec. I'd say just rebuild the motor that is in the car. Fuel injection and carb are both good setups for NAs...I'm not sure why vosko suggested going carb(is there a particular reason that I overlooked vosko?)....I don't see a big gain either way. Fuel injection and carb will get you the same power...its all in how well you can tune.

i got offered a J-SPEC without the turbo or manifold or ecu,,,does that mean im getting f*cked

Uh..... You never said that.

$550 isn't that bad of a price, it would be better if it came with everything (turbo, manifold, ect.).

vosko 07-24-2002 09:13 AM

mine was $650 with EVERYTHING except ECU
