Ok i have done some seriously thinking, and i want to get a J-spec 13BT. I have always wanted a turbo, and i think this is the best way to get one. I have the neccesary tools and my dad is a mechanic. I will probably go with a stand alone computer like haltech and get some new exhaust, and a front mounted intercooler or a TII hood. I already got drivetrain so i think im in good shape. My stock n/a block has got 141,000 on it, and i figured im not going to be able to get much out of it, so instead of wsting money on bolt-ons, im going for the big-bang. I have heard lots of discussion about this and i guess RotaryMan has got one. I need some advice and pointers. And what about the wiring harness? I want to hear some of ppls **** ups so i don't make same mistake. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

You'll only need the wiring harness for your windshield wipers, cruise control, and water temperature gauge. The rest of the harness can be removed if you feel like taking it apart. Most standalones can be had with a harness for all of the sensors, injectors, etc.

You could always go with a TII fuel pump. The Supra pump is pretty good. I have it.

What are you going to put in. Are you putting an 89+ Jspec in an 86 to 88 rex? Or are you putting a 87/88 jspec in an 87/88 NA? This will make a big difference( as I have now learned) as to how much work is involved. You will need to get a better fuel pump then the NA, I'm using a stock 3rd gen one...so we'll see how well it goes..I should have my '88 SE GT-X( ) up and running in a few days now...and I'm making a new website dedicated to the transplant process...if you have any specific questions or concerns, just let me know.

What kind of problems did you run into with your car? Do you know if it is a big bitch to put a 89 - 92 engine on a 87 - 88 tranny? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

I'm using an 87-88 TII transmission with an 89-91 TII motor. Both motors have the same bolt pattern.

I would like to go with the 89-92 block. yah and what about my 88' tranny, thats really the factor. And did u get any goodies w/ your jdm block,( like they say on webpage)?

:wow: i c u answered Q on tranny, my post was couple seconds after yours. :notify:

With my experience in this...its normally been the case that you'll need the same year tranny as you will motor...but I'm sure you can make the 88 T2 tranny bolt up, I just swapped out because the NA tranny I had was only good for about 250HP...which my T2 will be pushing more then that! I will put the link up to my new page shortly...it should answer many of your questions....
