Ok, so I want to do a shorter intake, where the air will be pulled from a hole (think t2 hole above the intercooler) in the hood (not pulling air from inside the bay; I do have a plan on how to seal it off from the rest of the bay, as well as how to keep water from being sucked into the intake). I have a question about intake length...
Basically, I plan to put the cone filter directly after the intake elbow after doing the AFM->hot wire MAF mod. The stock AFM is down near the end of the intake piping, and I was wondering if having it so much closer to the TB and the rest of the intake would cause any calculation issues w/the ECU? Logically I would think not because if the air is moving w/X velocity at the AFM then it's going almost the same speed at the area where I would plan to place the MAF sensor. Oh, also...the only reason I though of using the elbow is because I don't know what else could fit that to adapt to a standard circle like at the opposite end without fabbing one myself. I could FG one if people really think it would give an improvement to airflow, since the air doesn't have to try and cut the corner at all at that point... |
Ive done it before. it free revs faster but thats about it.

thanks for the response...ok, well i figured i'd do it since by that point im going to do my own FG hood, so i can mod it to my heart's content to get what im looking for

i had mine come straight off the tb and the filter was where the charcoal canister was.
i cut the na elbow to almost straight and stretched a home depot pvc coupler over it and the afm free revs faster, and the intake is louder. didnt notice any power difference, but if its getting colder air i imagine its doing something. i also had the back of my hood spaced up so air did get in there to it. |
