Could a crack in the front of the upper intake manifold cause the AFM to not flap around and the secondaries not come on at 4ks?

umm... how big is the crack? when the engine is running, can you feel it sucking air in through the crack?

Well I was tightning the bolts and for some reason the right around the one at the front cracked and I found out by spraying some starter fluid around it.

can you get a pic of where the crack is? I'm not quite sure i know what your talking about here...

It is right on the front of the engine looking at it right after the first stud. I had a pressure gauge hooked up and at idle it had around 10 vacuum but when I sprayed around that area it went to like 3 to 5. It is pretty big to.

well, to be honest, I have no Idea. i don't mess with turbos much, so i can't help beyond basic stuff....

Alright ,so I replaced the manifold without a problem. Now the problem is that is still does the same thing with the AFM. It doesn't function or affect anything when unplugged or removed. The engine still runs like it only has two plugs especially when trying to accelerate and will not go past 4ks with alot of backfiring. I mean at night there were fireworks under the car! Can anyone help me? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/violin.gif

something is way wrong with your car.

Houstonderk 02-07-2005 10:46 AM

I kind of figured that already. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png Is there any way to figure this out? like ohm all the wires coming from the ECU to each component to make sure everything is wired up right, or just get another harness? Mine had about 5 inches cut and replaced due to a fire right by the turbo. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/violin.gif
