My friend's new engine has idleing problems. We had gutted the emissions and checked EVERYTHING, with no change in idle. It makes a hissing noise at low rpms, if you adjust the throttle to let it run at 1500 you can hear a hissing. The only place we can figure it is coming from is the Intake itself. We took the Dynamic chamber off to paint it. I heard that if you put that black plate on backwards than it wont idle. But is there a gasket in there? We didn't seal that, should we? also if you push the throttle at the upper right thing just a little than the leak stops hissing, could this be our mysterious leak?? I have a pic if that doesn't make sense. Thanks,

spray starter fluid on every mating surface you took apart and look for surging idle. then tighten up anything that needs to.
Think I can just tighten the hell out of those bolts and that will fix it without having to take it off and gasket seal it?
don't break the bolts/nuts. you shouldn't have to tighten them super hard. did you clean all of old gasket off before putting on a new one? like absolutely clean? check vacuum tubes too.
There are only 3 vaccum hoses, oil injectors, LIM, FPR. No we didn't clean the old gasket.
your always suppose to replace the gasket when you take something apart, thats where your leak is.

The real question is did you put new gaskets on without getting rid of ALL of the old gaskets... |
sometimes the gaskets are in good shape, you should always clean the surfaces that they mate with and some kind of gasket sealer is a good idea on both sides of the gasket.
