This should be a quick and easy question for you guys, I purchased an K&N filter and adapter on eBay. As I am in the process of replacing the stock airbox with it, I noticed an additional small hose leaving the airbox to the motor. Once I pull the airbox, what do I do with this hose? Should it just be blocked off?

I looked through the FAQ, couldn't find anything.

Thanks.

does it go to the air pump, that has a pulley on it?

j9fd3s 03-26-2003 01:25 PM

it goes to the air pump, you need to put a little filter on it

Yes, it goes to the air pump. What kind of filter are you using on it?

Thanks.

yeah the K&n intake has a lil hole on the side that the airpump hose goes to. Ive decided to put a lil breather filter that you can buy off any autoparts store for liike $6.00-$8.00. Check out the pic

FCmaniac 03-27-2003 06:20 AM

Or you can attach the little filter right to the air pump and ditch the hose or you can ditch the air pump all together.

ROTARYROCKET7 03-27-2003 08:40 AM

i like it with the hose and the lil filter right there. It keeps the K&n company so when it gets dark under the hood it has a companion

Shane.Trammell 03-27-2003 08:49 AM

yeah look in the rice section of your local parts store

ROTARYROCKET7 03-27-2003 08:58 AM

hey hey hey i work at autoozone. They had it there so i bought it. They sell mostly for american cars but theydo carry alot of **** for hondas and what not. They dont even carry rx7 sparkplugs. Why the hell do i work there then. Oh yeah i cant get a job anywhere else lol

Shane.Trammell 03-27-2003 09:05 AM

haha i was just saying that bc i found mine in the ricer section and all parts stores have them now. if you have oriellys that is the best store, the people are nice and the prices are the best. they also stock the ngk plugs for the 7s

FCmaniac 03-27-2003 12:13 PM

I dont know if you guys are familiar with A&A Auto Parts but its a chain around my area that has damn good prices on NGK stuff (around $5.50 per BUR7's and 9's) They also have good prices and next day delivery on lots of performance parts like M/T slicks, etc. Its the only local chain I found that can compete with online pricing.

rx-7_rice_rocket 04-01-2003 09:07 PM

how much did u spend on the conversion? because i built one for my 86 and i redid my tube for it too. all before i knew that KN made a kit. i used a filter on the little hose like the pic.

FCmaniac 04-02-2003 06:13 AM

You can get the air flow meter adapter for $4.50 on ebay or the basic intake kit which is the adapter and a cheap cone filter for around $10-15 on ebay last time I checked. It doesn't include that mini filter though and the filter element is not very good. For the minimal power gains, I dont think its worth paying $150+ for a K&N or HKS kit though.

relisys190 04-02-2003 12:20 PM

yeah i paid 130 for a bonez kit. came with an adapter plate and a filter.. and a small bag of screws

I got screwed. I could have gotten the plate for 5 bucks and the filter for 20.. Oh well, i guess that what i get for being dumb and buying it when i was an FNG to Rotary's https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png

Turbo II 04-02-2003 02:23 PM

wait for my hks intake i never had the breather. is that a bad thing?
