- get a cone filter. On an S5 (89-91) it will fit right onto to input of the Air Flow Meter

- You will also need a small breather filter

- remove the entire existing filter and box

- Install the cone filter on the AFM

- Using aluminum sheeting and engine insulating material, probably some good aluminum tape too, build a box around the cone filter. You need to block as much of the engine bay heat as possible from entering the filter. Keep the snorkle in place. It will add some cooler air from in front of the rad.

- If you get really adventurous, cut some holes in the wheel well to vent cooler air to the cone filter .

- Lots of users have actually run aluminum piping through the wheel well and mounted a cone filter at the end.

The ultimate aim is to free up air flow into the system and cut down on heat.

Just make sure you build a box. Or do what I did and hollow out the exisiting box and cut a small hole below it allowing you to fab some kind of fitting so that you can put a cone filter without losing the stock look...which can be helpful in certain situations
