I was wondering how big the injectors on my 87 N/A are? I would like to get bigger ones if possible, but wondering what you guys think. The mods that I have done are a full custom intake arm that I made and welded, ported throttle body with throttle body mod, racing beat header, carsound high flow cat, and a Borla cat back exhaust. Any info is appreciated.

You don't need it. You are no where near maxxing out the stock 4x 460cc.

If anything you should get an apexi SAFC and lean it out some.

What does the Apex'i SAFC or the HKS Super AFC do? How would I tune this? And how would this be good for my car? Sorry for asking dumb questions, but I have no clue on what to do when it comes to this part of upgrading.

I am pretty sure the AFC stands for AIR Fuel Controller. Basically leats you tune the fuel settings to a certain limit. Meaning if you have acces to a dyno you get a SAFC and go to the dyno. Start by leaning it out a litlle at a time until the pwer stops increasing. Seeing as you have a NA you are more than likely running rich, so leaning it out some are will gain you some horsepower

That sounds great, but the only shitty part is that I am in upstate new york, and there are really no dynos up here that I know about.

meh, you should be able just by the feel. You really don't have to dyno I doubt many peaple do, it just helps you get the most out of it.

Can you tune the Super AFC from the car from the controller? I am not that experienced with it, how hard do you think that it would be? And would it be easy to tell when it has reached its max output with out leaning it out as much as to blow up the engine?

SAFC means Super Air Flow Converter. It alters your air flow meters signal to the ECU. It either makes the ECU think there is more or less air inturn giving the motor more or less fuel. It does help alot. Its no standalone, but it does what it was meant to.



The thing is a little 5x2x1 box that you monut in your car. It is the controller and the handset all in one. You just scroll through the points and raise or lower the percentage of correction. As long as you have a AFR gauage, you can tune it really easily.



To tel if you are too rich, your car will blow black smoke. If your too lean, your car will feel like its running like crap.



You wont be able to max out the injectors with the SAFC. I beleive they can only add a correction of 10% or 20% duty cycle. Your car should only be running 55 I think.



If you want to spend a few hundred more, I reccomend the Greddy eManage. It is one hell of a piggyback that does ignition, fuel, datalogging, everything a standalone can do, it can pretty much do. If my ECU didnt fry, I wouldve gone that route, but I didnt.

all the stock ecu's run in the 85+% duty cycle range at w.o.t. and high rpms.

I was thinking about somthing else at the time.



The SAFC can only do 5% duty.

The greddy emanage can do all that?

it can do 50%, but thats prolly not duty because the afc is on the afm, its prolly afm signal

How much power, if any would I be looking at if this were done correctly?

depends on your other mods and a couple other things, but 10-15hp is normal

What are those "couple of other things"? What I have done to it is a custom intake arm that I made with a Prelude intake pipe, HKS filter, RB header, Carsound High Flow Cat, and a Borla cat back exhaust. One last question, is this unit hard to work with?

And the ported throttle body with the tb mod.

I just got an SAFC too.. I haven't had it installed yet, but i have another question...any advice on where to mount?

The SAFC is really easy to work with and install. They say to solder it all, but I ignored that and just used these wire splicers from wal-mart. You wrap it around the wire on the ECU, put the wire in from the SAFC and clap it down. No cutting or anything. The only wire you have to cut is the signal wire from the AFM.

And this is all explained how to hook it up in the insructions? Or do would I need help people who have done it?

the instructions are pretty clear. there isnt that many wires
