I have to post this because it is a new record for me. Here are the details. I filled up the gas tank until it shut off by itself I then rezeroed the odometer. I drove about 25 miles around town before getting on the freeway This had moved the gas needle noticably. I burned up some where around five gallons total ( I have the slip in the ash traywith the exact facts) well the result is a fantastic 26.5 mpg at 60 mph. I used cruise most of the time in 5th gear. My previous best was 25 driving a longer distance at about 60-70 mph I think if I had done only hyway driving I would have maybe don close to 28 mpg. typicly I get 15 around town and 18 if I behave... I thought 25 was the most possible from my car what do you think about that?

Wow, thats news to me. I pretty sure the hard top non turbo FC's can beat that record by maby 2 or 3 mpg. Ya know since their about 400 pounds lighter.

I know one thing that is different about the convertable from the hard tops and it is a subject that upset many people when the usa model convertable was released. The difference besides the extra weight is it has different gears in the rear. It was intentional to boost mpg which a book says at barns and noble... the convertable was critized for this fact and for the fact that convertable models in other parts of the world did not have this happen. Also they are turbo charged out side the USA.

I think 26mpg is what they were rated at when they were new?

That is great. With my FC the greatest i got was 22 MPG but i barely do highway driving due to everything being with in 10 miles but nothing over 20 miles. I need a new O2 sensor then i should get better gas mileage.

yeah, i love my 3.9's!

I have been stuck with a 4.10 rear since i drove my explorer sport.

I got like 15 in the city with my '86 GXL because I couldn't stand to be one of those people that takes forever to accelerate. On the highway, I think the best I ever got was 24-25mpg on I-85...most of the time it was probably like 20-22mpg on the highway because on I-85, I usually speed 80-90mph... No comments from the peanut gallery.
My '96 Eclipse 5-speed gets about 24 in the city and 38 highway between 60-70mph (70 downhill) - I was driving to conserve gas but I made a few hard passes on people. I got bitched out by this dude who wasn't even interested in buying my car because I advertised 38mpg as the highway number when you drive with gas prices in mind. Bitch, PLZ... Joke was on him, once I gave him all the numbers off the receipt and the odometer reading, and even every single place I went on that tank of gas. |

Coming back from sevenstock i got nearly 400 miles on a single tank of gas. It was nearly bone dry by the time I got back to Sunnyvale though!
