Ahhh the ongoing saga of the 2nd gen that does not wanna run. . . https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

OR Seesh can't this guy get his bloody car fixed!?

If it makes you feel better I DID fix up a 1st gen easily enough, this car however is giving me fits.

In our last episode we learned that the 2ndary/trailing ignition . . .well doesn't. No fire, no go, no timing light coming on.

I just went out and rechecked everything and I also observed that L2 on the primary coil fires erratically at best. L1 fires consistantly, L2 is there when it feels like it.

So I check the Crank Angle sensor and it checks out OK but I really gotta wonder about that. Think it could be screwed up inside? How does it work, hall effect or?

Could it be the ignitors are screwy? Dunno how to check those, the coils themselves check out right, but I've got some used ones coming just in case (got em cheap)

I think I see why the last owner(s) got rid of the car. And just think, on top of all this fun there could still be vaccum leaks! Whooooo hoooooooooooo!

And I still love the card. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Try swapping in the spare coils.

I hear and obey oh mighty one! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

I'm waiting for them to get here, but as I really hate waiting I'm always looking for something else to do.

I suppose I ought to pull the Logicon cpu out and resolder it while I'm sitting here. Or maybe clean out the car or something.

*sighs*

Have you tried running the car without trailing ignition altogether?

Try this... My timing light has a hard time picking up my 13B's plugs firing, However if I pull the boot out a little bit (which increases the spark) it works just fine and the timing light then works.

On the Mazda the Leading (lower) plugs fire together while the trailing fire independantly of each other. It will appear that the Leading plugs fire more often, which is true.

*plugs his ears and hopes it's just the coils so he can drive his car soon*
