Hi

I have a 1987 rx7 turbo with a j-spec 13b turbo engine. I can not get the dam thing to idle at all i can start the car and it will start and idle @ 1500rmp's for a second or 2 and than drop down to like ~600rpm and than drops to 0 and trys to stay at 0 for a second or 2 and than dies. Its not a vacuum leak because i just replaced all my lines and there all fine as far as i know. And i just set my tps throttle position senosr to 1 ohm and adjusted my throttle adjustment screw and this is where i ended up and so i still cant get it to idle dose anyone know what i should do or what i should try. thanks https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

start with the obvious first, are you getting enough fuel? enough air? enough spark? always a good idea to replace the fuel filter because they get clogged easy, are your injectors in good shape? probably a good idea to get them cleaned or replaced, and recheck that you have all the vac lines in the proper place

i know it sounds stupid, but i replaced almost $300 worth of parts on my FB before i realized i was out of gas... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png so alway's start with the simplest and obvious.. if none of that is any help, then some of the others are gonna have to pitch in

The hoses aren't the only source for vac leaks. I had some major idle problems and all my hoses were replaced with brand new silicon hoses. I still had a vac leak.

I found the leak came from the LIM to block. The gasket was fubarred and needed replacing. Check all the gaskets to make sure they are fine.

i think mines in that general area, I sprayed some carb cleaner down there and my idle got better, so it couldnt be vac lines, it had to be a problem with something on the engine like the LIM.

All my lines are brand new silicon hoses lines and all on right. So it cant be that and i just replaced all the gaskets to the lower intake and the uper intake. but now i have a new problam lol my turbo seems to be smoking wtf maby i dont have the mainafold tighten on there or should i replace the metal gasket for the turbo because i just used the same one but im not shure if its reuseable or not?

Do you know where the (J-spec) idle stop screw is - under the IC on the rear side of the TB?

Crank it in to speed up the idle.

Yep, mine was so bad, it was whistling. It also helps to check all the grommets on the hoses and even better if you use some sorta sealant to ensure proper fit.
