The PO of my car had performed most of the TB mod (all but grinding down/smoothing out the center bit), and ALL emissions stuff plus BAC is gone, but something must have gotten bent or mis-aligned on re-assembly, cause the throttle doesnt close all the way, making the car idle at ~1500. I can force it closed, then it idles at a decent 800, but the moment you touch the gas, the throttle plate frees up and won't return to the fully closed position. To combat this, I am going to try to plug the hole in the primary throttle plate, and just adjust idle with the return screw. Can anyone see any down-sides to doing it this way? Thanks

This is on an S4 TII

make sure your throttle plates arent binding. Seems a bit weird that it will idle at 800, then wont return back after you give it gas. You can manually adjust the idle with the throttle stop screw. But keep in mind, you are using the stock ecu you have to re-adjust the tps after this.

stock ecu or haltech?

N338 ecu, (88 'vert), will be going megasquirt in the next few months. The odd thing is that the throttle works fine when not on the car, it snaps back into place etc, but once its on the car, it doesnt return fully (unless you let off the gas very quickly). For this reason, i think that either the throttle cable is binding as well, or something is getting in the way or rubbing on the end of one of the throttle shafts

Found it... the butterfly valve pivot rod was slightly bent, causing it to bind at the end of it's travel. When I unbent it (wrapped a giant wire around it and tugged), it worked great.
