Ok the place that is doing my body work tells me that my tranny will go out in the next month. ok i can believe that. it is pretty bad. so they tell me that no one can rebuild these transmissions even though i already got quotes from 3 transmissions shops that said they could do it. they then tell me that they can sell me a new one for $9000. im like what. they did tell me that they could sell me a re manufactured one for i dont remember how much and im thinking, what do they think a re manufactured one is?? dont they know that its just a rebuilt one? anyways they then told me that i need a new engine. they said that this one is about to die bc it smokes some when you start it up. then they told me that these engines cant be rebuilt. im like these people are lying to the wrong person. its not like i am a woman who knows nothing, but they must think i am. so anyways. on my way home from there my ps belt falls off. i know it was tight bc i checked the tension earlier that day. so i put that thing back on. since i took it in there everytime i start it it smokes some and smells like burning rubber. so today im starting it and i have to jump it bc of the electrical leak that started when i wrecked it. and im looking at it and wondering what that smell is. the ac belt has been pushed over one pully to one that doesnt turn. so i think that the guy who worked on it did that crap to make me think that it was smoking and i did need a new engine. then im thinking, hmmm how would he know if it was smoking bc its cold outside and all cars look like they are smoking when you start them now. it does smoke a little occasionally but he wouldnt have known that. oh my engine only has 15000 miles on it anyways, and this is the 3rd engine that has been in this car, both times it was replaced with a rebuilt engine. these people are dumb.

Shane.Trammell 12-13-2002 10:18 PM

this was all done by a mazda certified guy who works at the toyota dealership where i live. he used to work at the mazda place

Shane.Trammell 12-13-2002 10:22 PM

the smoke wasnt coming out of the exhuast it was coming from the bay

Racer X 12-13-2002 10:23 PM

I would tell them to shove it up thier ass and jus tdo the damn bodywork onit so you can bring it home to worry about. They sure don't know much about these cars and it shows.I say get the bodywork done and leave as fast as you can.

Shane.Trammell 12-13-2002 10:27 PM

well i have it and i am driving it. i dont really car what they do with the body work bc the insurance is paying for that

Racer X 12-13-2002 10:30 PM

Sure does sound like they know alot about these cars.9000 for a tranny.Geez, you can put a 13B-RE in for almost that.

Shane.Trammell 12-13-2002 10:37 PM

i know, thats for a brand new one from mazda though.

1Revvin7 12-13-2002 11:41 PM

Wow im glad i do all my work. Stop going to that place period. Pineapple racing rebuilds trannies for like $400(varies on what needs rebuilding though). Smoke could be a lot of things, misadjusted omp rod would make it smoke a little etc. You've gone through 3 engines??? wow.

1988RedT2 12-14-2002 07:00 AM

I'm pretty sure Mazdatrix sell trannies, and I'm damn sure they don't cost 9 grand. Don't let those people under your hood again. Sounds like a little scare tactic to drum up some extra business.

I just checked. A NEW tranny for my car is 2100. from Mazdatrix.

loudazzrx7 12-14-2002 08:33 AM

Hold-up,I know im late comeing in to this --but jesus. What place is this trying to tell you this crap.I worked for aamco, and Mr.Trasmission before for years.Any Tranny can be rebuilt--period but in most cases when the hard parts inside go out--sorry thats what we call them--80%of the time its cheaper to get a rebuilt(reman) unit.I bet you didnt know this.when you take it to a tranny shop, and they sell you a new tranny---its not new.Its a cut out unit from one of the junkyard dealers. They stick it in the cleaner, paint it,and --look new tranny.I am assuming this is a 5 speed and not a auto---Just get you a cut outl ess than 200 then get you new seals and your done.

ChainSawOnSteroids 12-14-2002 09:00 AM

um...why is the body shop going under your hood other than the body???

tell them to **** off and stay the **** out of there

I can get new trannies for about $1700-$1800 from Mazda. You have been lied to amigo.

norotor_nomotor 12-14-2002 10:49 AM

damn man i would go to that shop and kick the **** outta the mechanic for ****** with my car, i would NOT under any circumstances (other than bloodbath) go back to that shop again they dont sound like they know what they are doing at all

Shane.Trammell 12-14-2002 11:25 AM

its not just the body shop. the car was in the repair shop so the mechanics were the ones looking at it. the smoking is being caused by a belt that has been moved over and is rubbing on the fan pulley. thats one thing they are lying to me about. they told me the engine smokes so they moved the belt over so it would and i would be worried. the car is an automatic. i havent gona through 3 engines. my aunt and uncle bought the car new in 89. at one point they lost compression on a rotor so they had the engine replaced. then they had an electrical problem so the mazda people told them that they needed to have it replaced. they dont know much about engines i guess so they replaced that one too. now it has the engine that i have.

Shane.Trammell 12-14-2002 11:36 AM

heres whats left of the belt they moved. another belt fell off

pengaru 12-14-2002 11:43 AM

guns, lots of guns.

foopy 12-14-2002 12:16 PM

damn dood, you sure you werent wearing a dress and some make up when you brought the car in? they sure were trying to **** you. dun go there anymore. and tell us which shop it is, so we dont go there for any reason, for any of our cars.

Shane.Trammell 12-14-2002 12:29 PM

the place is classic toyota in tyler texas

sleeperRX7 12-14-2002 05:13 PM

wtf? do something to make the engine blow up, set it up the same way they did, have it towed to your house and sue the **** out of that body shop! beat the **** outta them, do they happen to have a web address for there shop? i know someone that could have fun with there website if they did happen to have one, but seriously dont let those fucks get the satisfaction they think there getting, thats not right at all https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

sleeperRX7 12-14-2002 05:16 PM

Rob x-7 12-15-2002 08:05 PM

I wouldnt let them touch DICK on the car, you can bring your car to ANY body shop

and have it fixed, dont even go back there AT ALL.

If you are letting the insurance pay for your repairs YOU will get the check in the mail, not

them, go to a body shop only, you telling me no one you know can reccomend a body shop that wont rip you off? I would even consider a complaint to the better business or the local DMV office, the DMV does license shops in your state right? Register a complaint with them, you never know, others may have also complained and its shops and people like that who need to be stopped.

The ******* mechanic and the service writer probably work on commission and are trying to rip off a kid like yourself, you said your a small kid, so they probably think your some stupid little kid with his first car who doesnt know anything, **** those cocksuckers and dont dare bring your car back there, they MAY go so far as to damage your car on purpose by running it out of oil or overheating on purpose, sugar in the gas tank, or some **** to get your engine to blow.

I hope you do the right thing and NEVER go back to that place again, REGISTER A COMPLAINT!

CrazyAssRX7 12-15-2002 11:11 PM

ok first off, dont go back there second off for a tranny, i can get the nonturbo tranies for about 200 maybe a lil more in pretty good condition

whats this **** about 9000 $$$??? do you look like a woman, cuz they sure must think u r that dumb, dont go back there and get a rotary pro to check your car and maybe give ya a tune up on your engine, could be all

Shane.Trammell 12-15-2002 11:15 PM

is that 200 for an auto ??

Joe Flo 12-15-2002 11:41 PM

Just bought my car yesterday so i might not know too much. Aren't the engines supposed to smoke when it starts or did I buy a bad one? Engine sounds clean when I start it and deffinatly takes off!!

Shane.Trammell 12-15-2002 11:47 PM

yeah they smoke a little due to the oil being on the surface of the rotors

Seppuku 12-16-2002 12:00 AM

Mine doesnt smoke unless theres water in the pipe or its cold out

nymrod 12-18-2002 09:57 AM

If the insurance is paying for the body work take it to a mazda dealership so everything is done factory. If they put the $9000 quote on paper you could always turn them in to the BBB. I would get their business license pulled or at least get them investigated by a local news station.

j9fd3s 12-18-2002 10:59 AM

the automatic trannies for these car do not come rebuilt only new and they do cost $9000.

other that the do what rob says

Factory?

Very few dealerships have thier own body shops, most of them use a shop close by. Not like Mazda factory trains people to do body work on the cars.

Its like my friends bodyshop, he does the work for the local Porsche, Audi, VW dealer, people bring thier cars to the dealer, and they in turn drive them down the street to him, when he is done they pick up the car at mark the bill up by at least 20%

With the age of his car, its probably in his policy that they can put aftermarket parts on the car instead of OEM parts anyhow. I would say that the vert came with a aluminum hood which you cant get aftermarket and maybe they will go for the factory parts, with some policies if the car is old enough its the insurance companies discretion to put USED parts on the car if they can track them down. Read your policies CAREFULLY!

Shane.Trammell 12-18-2002 06:05 PM

they are putting all new parts. the are puting the al hood. all of the dealerships here have body shops. io am not going to that place to get it fixed

Rob x-7 12-18-2002 06:18 PM

Must be a New York thing then, only a handfull of dealers here have thier own body shops, probably something to do with all the regualtions and insurances here.

pengaru 12-18-2002 06:22 PM

i know around here it's common practice for a dealer to use a local body shop for work.

j9fd3s 12-18-2002 06:25 PM

yeah most dealers around here dont have body shops, body shops are a big mess to run, because everyone is either dumb/high or non english speaking

mike

vudoodoodoo 12-18-2002 08:26 PM

They do body work. Since when are they experts on engines and trannies? Tell em to STFU and do the body work.

Shane.Trammell 12-18-2002 09:09 PM

everything has changed since before. i am going to an actual body shop that is very well known. i think my insurance is also gonna rebuild the transmission. so i am getting all new parts and a new transmission. i hope

j9fd3s 12-18-2002 09:14 PM

cool
