i just wanted to poll the masses to find out what i ought to do about my clutch situation....i have an 87 tII w/ just a few mods...evc, pulling out cat. my clutch is shot so i wanted to get an act s/s....got talked into a 4 puck w/ springs, which now i'm not even sure they make.....they ended up sending me a 6 puck w/ no springs.....so...should i keep it or send it back? this is my daily driver that i do intend to race in the spring......no drag/ 1/4 mile though.......i want head to head.....but that's a whole nutha topic thanks ...ethan

I think you should be fine, but I am not sure, which model is the 6 puck?

i personally hate copper clutches on the street, but if you are gonna race it you need it

hahaha...The same thing happend to me. I ordered a ACT S/S clutch and they sent me the 4-puck you are talking about. Their were no springs on it. Vosko talked me into putting it on my car so I did. Apparently the serial number on the 4-puck and the S/S are the same except one ends with an 4 and the other a 0. I dont know how you get those mixed up (fow and o...dunno). Anyway back on the subject. It is going to grip hard the first few days. If you push down on the clutch and dont let it go softly you are going to get whiplash!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/blackeye.gif I have had my 4-puck one in for 2 weeks and I have it down now. Its smooth and it is supposed to last longer then the S/S. Now the 6-puck I would imagine it being the same just a little more grip. The only downside is that mine chattered the first week I had it in. I also use my car as the daily driver and it doesn't bother me. You just have to get used to it! Goodluck

puck clutches are for drag racing only......what type of racing are you doing...autoX, drag, street racing.....road course?



if the car is not going to be heavily modded there is no point in putting a clutch that will shake the chick in the passenger seats fillings out...i have seen disc clutches last a long time under VERY heavy abuse





CART, F1, NASCAR, WRC, IRL all use disc type clutches....smoother power engaugement means faster corner exit speed

Well I have gotten used to my puck clutch. I know it is only for racing but I have leanrded to be really light on the clutch to where my car doesn't jerk. Don't get me wrong I am half asleep on my way to school and that is how I wake up but once I am aware of what I am doing everything is fine. If you do put it in you are going to say alot of bad words when you first start driving it.



To put an end to everything if you don't feel comfortable with this then just return it. I only kept it because my cousin came down for the weekend to help me. If I would have returned it I would have had to do the work myself. My advice is to just return it and get the one you want!!
