I want to remove the whole EGR system (no NOx tested in IL) and I plan on using premix so I want to take off the pump for that too. Can I just put steel plates over that holes in place of the two? I'm not sure if all those vacuum actuators on the EGR assembly are just for the EGRl. Do they serve any other purpose? Would I have to do anything with the cables going to the ECU from the oil injection pump?

Thanks

I have a unused blockoff plate from racingbeat for the EGR, but the S5 does not have EGR as far as I know.

Are you sure you're not talking about the acv?

You can just block off where the metering oil pump goes, if you're rebuilding the motor or have the front cover off for whatever reason you can also remove the shaft which drives the metering oil pump and plug the oil feed on the front engine housing that normally supplied the oil to the metering oil pump.

There are no actuators on the egr valve, and s5(s) do not have egr valve's. Therefore you must be talking about the ac&cv... Just slap blockoff plates on there as mentioned, k2rd sells them.

Could be. I'm not really sure, but it's in the middle of the back of the LIM and it's connected to a pipe that goes to the exhaust.

i think your talking about the ACV as everyone said, just block it off, and thats all

pengaru 04-09-2003 08:40 PM

don't block it off if you want to pass emissions easily here in our wonderful emissions testing state.

What does the ACV do?

in case you didnt notice the air pump connects to the ACV, the ACV is a clusterfuck that does a handful of tasks, one of which is directing air pump air to a passage in the lower intake manifold that leads to the split air pipe, so air injection occurs at the catalytic converter.

the anti afterburn valve is also part of the acv, theres some other junk too which I do not recall off the top of my head.

You can try running the air pump straight to the split air pipe and blocking off the ACV, thats what i'm going to do on my NA to pass emissions, but I also have a e6k to tune the motor for lean running for the test. It might work for you.

Yeah, I plan on welding a big ass cat on the downpipe that came with the car and welding one in the mid pipe. Then I'm just gonna put a bung?, i think it's called, on the top of the DP where I can directly fit a hose from the air pump. I can lean it out a little with the S-AFC. Would lowering the boost (below 7.5 psi) give me better emissions or would that make the emissions worse?
