omg i am so pissed at myself.

So the roads start to clear up around here so im like lets take it for a spin. I was doing my timing and i noticed my oil pressure was at like 2-4, im like wow thats strange i give it gas it it jumps up like usually so im like whatever. I even give the little OMP arm a couple of pulls to get some oil in there. I didn't noticed anything strange and it was working like a charm and even more powerful than before. So im on the freeway doing some passes, i get off and get on then i punch it, and the roads are moist so they i spun em through 4 the gear, i let off and am going. I have my heater on full blast for a precaution, ALL of a sudden smoke comes through! ****!

 I pussh in the clutch and coast, i drive home very lightly for 1 mile. I get in my garage pop the hood and there is black oil everywhere! I check my oil, half empty and thats why my damn gauge was so low. And when i redlined each gear on the ramp the oil pressure was so high it spat oil everywhere. It looks like it came from either the oil filler neck or the oil filter. I'm scared right now, it's probably been happing all winter, i drove it for 2 different times for about 20-30 mins , and let it idle for 3 times for about 20 mins. DID I **** MY **** UP? :shakehead: :shakehead: :shakehead:

The only thing i touched w/ oil over the winter was new oil filter and oil, and i also took off the 2 vacuum lines on the oil filler neck and put rubber capps on them, but they were still there. What do these 2 vac lines do? There was no visual leakages or damage anywhere. Anyone have any ideas? Im just going to have to rev the engine and look around i guess.

The o-rings under the oil filter assembly could be bad. Besides that the only other source for a leak is usually an oil cooler line.

RotaryBoy88 03-11-2002 08:55 PM

I Don't know if you checked your lines or not but when mine went it exploded everywhere under my hood. :madgo: and with the oil everywhere it's kinda hard to see any leaks.

Yeah, I had my short oil line spring a leak, and once the oil hit the fan it went everywhere. The best thing to do would be to fill the motor with oil and look for leaks at the oil lines while the car is running.

thats probably it, i did notice one time before some on my hood right above my oil cooler lines, i was about to do those anyways :sigh:

Get some nice SS lines with AN fittings. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Are Mazdatrix's SS Oil Cooler Lines any good? I just got some a week ago with my FCD. They look great, but do you guys think these are good?

Yes, they're very good. I put a set on somebody's car, and the quality was very good. I prefer hoses with AN fittings only because my other hoses are like that.

yep ur right, where can i get one from, Mazdatrix? I'm planning on gettin the ss lines from Racing Beat, why don't they make all sorts of AN fittings for our cars? they look so nice. Which ones are better the mazdatrix lines or the RB ones?

I like the RB lines because if the hoses ever go bad they're easy to fix. You usually have to do SS lines yourself. That's why it's "custom." https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Had the same thing happen on my car scorched the oil rings on the rotors and started to make a smoke screen durring downshifts. ran mine real low though. finally had to break down motor and install new oil seals on rotors everything else was ok.

SS lines and AN fittings cost ALOT more than rubber hose with clamps.

yes u were, but tell me this. A while back if u don't remember i pulled that vac spider under my manifold and all the vac lines practically. I capped off the 2 vac lines on the oil filler neck also

I know that one is a breather. You could put a small filter on it. Doesn't it usually vent back into the intake?

1Revvin7 03-15-2002 04:02 PM

i got it apart and i am about to replace the o-rings, but they are flat, they look like a washer. I have an o-ring kit and it doesn't have any o-rings that are flat, where they once round like all other o-rings? just flattened? I could just goto the dealer but don't want to wastes $$..

I don't remember what they look like, but you should make sure that you use o-rings that can handle high temperatures.

yeah thats why i just payed $ 6.00 for them :wow:  what a joke, but i didn't want to screw around and get the wrong piece etc. I got them installed and still hvae a tiny leak, i need to tighten the screws down, my oil pressure is 2 like 15 lbs/in^2, so i no its not right. I also took it for a spin and noticed it leaked some. I got stuck 3 times in 10 minutes too! with 1- 1 1/2 inches of snow on the ground. my car is a cold beast, hates winter

Just take yor time and do it right. You may want to use some copper silicone just to be safe.

man i still can't figure this out! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png its really starting to piss me off. First i replaced the oil filter, still leak and low oil pressure @ idle, Took it apart and replaced the o-rings w/ mazda replacedmnet, still leaks and low oil pressure @ idle. I let it warm up in my garage and watch 4 leaks. I even rev the hell outa of it too get some leakage! NONE, WTF? I drive it up and down my block, stop and pop my hood, oil gathering in a pool on my rotor housing and some oil on the housing and filter assembly. I have fucked with this for the past 2 days, god something so ****** small and stupid starting to really tick me off. Could it be coming from the rotor housing? maybe a shot oil seal or something? There is no oil being burnt though coming from my exhaust. I don't understand https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png i think i did this too by pressurizing my system when i plugged those 2 vac nozzles on the oil filler neck. I hope the seals didn't break or some ****! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png

Maybe the oil filter assembly has a crack? The oil pressure sender is also in that area.

Check your rear side housing. They can sometimes spring a leak.

You could try letting the car idle while you shine a powerful light in that area.

Check your rear side housing. They can sometimes spring a leak.
thats what im thinking it is! So what do i have to do pull it and take her apart? **** it im going boost.....
Are you sure you checked everything out?
yes... I'm not going to be hasty though, i will make sure! im going to put a camcorder under my hood and drive then watch the replay! If it is the sidehousing, how much would the part cost me? Maybe i just needed an excuse like this to finally get me a rebuilt TII engine put in :sigh:
You could try letting the car idle while you shine a powerful light in that area.
tried that several times already, its doesn;t leak when its not in motion.
