Ok so,the car has always had the 3800 hesitation, but this is crazy

only under full throttle--car bucks and hesitates bad--when she hits about 3500 rmp

it falls on its face, then comes back then does it again abot 2 times before redline. When the car is ice cold its fine for about 1 minute or 2 and then there it is.I have to drive real slow and easy for it not to hesitate.

New plugs

new wires

new fuel filter

new cat convertor

can not figure out what up.I even got a new afm--and nothing

I can even let the car warm up real good and hit the throttle while under the hood and you can hear it bog down real bad then come back--Any ideas????

Its a 86gxl by the way no airpump, racingbeat header,no silencer

This hesitation happens a lot. Check out this site he has a fix.

RX-7's are notorious for having bad grounds. Check the voltage of the ECU ground pins...probably 3 or 4 of them. They are supposed to be -0- volts. If they register a positive voltage you will benefit from splicing a wire to the ground wire and grounding this wire to the car's frame. A lot of owners have cured their 3800 sag by beefing up and adding new grounds.

Yeah, the grounding issues seem to cause all kinds of problems in the 2nd gens

check the link out below, adding and beefing up all the grounds got rid of the stumble in my car.

I will try the grounds---When I say it stumbles, man does it

Right around 3500 rpm--bog,bog,the kicks back in,then around 4800rpm,bog,bog,kicks in--wierd!

Test your fuel pressures too. Test both pump and system pressure.

check that your o2 sensor is connected fully. when my dad rebuilt his he had the same problem for months till he figured out it was just that shitty connection. o god was he pissed it was something so simple.

my hesitation in my t2 was because it turned out to have a na fuel pump and was run by the previous owner on 87 octane

i completely agree.

sounds like your car is running out of fuel since it drives normally at lower rpms. i had a similar problem in my car and it was a crack in the hoses in the fuel tank.
