I'm trying to get this manual rack out to sell to someone, and I've got it all loose except the very ends. Got the cotter pin and castle nut off, but can't seem to get the ends out. What's the best way to remove these without messing up the threads on the tie rod ends? I've already tried gently rapping on it with a rubber mallet, and prying on the bottom (the rubber boots will be replaced).

you need a puller... or two big hammers. Banzaitoyota can explain in greater detail.

heres the NUMBER one way i get it to work grab 2 large hammers, hit opposing sides as hard as you can and it should almost fall out

Just like Nismo said, A wise old mechanic taught me that a LONG time ago

I got it out, but just for clarification, opposite sides of what? The tie rod end? The steering knuckles portion surrounding it? I just used a metal hammer instead of a rubber mallet, and whacked it on out.
