Right now have all emmissions removed. I have to pass emmisions next summer if I want to drive again. I could put on the air pump and use one or two very large cats or would it pass better with a streetport, standalone, and a new turbo? I know the streetport is worse for emmissions but I could tune it a little lean and stuff just to make it passs emmisions then tune it back. What do you guys think?
|
you need a cat, the airpump, and a working acv and it should be ok. the port doesnt help. but if you can play with mixture you should be able to get it past

make friends with an private inspection shop/station...if thats possible https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Thats how we did it in New York. I knew they inspection guy and he would use another car for the emmisions test.
You must have a friend that knows a guy that has a friend that has a cousin that can do it for you. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png |
Is the ACV what controls the amount of air going into the exhaust or is it for the EGR?

You can pass the sniffer by running alcohol. You dont need an air pump or a cat at all. Just run a liberal amount of alcohol through it and youll pass with flying colors.
If you have a visual inspection however, youll need that airpump. |
where do you run the alchohol? Like it's own injection setup or can i mix it with fuel or pure alcohol?
|
use it for fuel.

However be sure to get it al out of there when youre done because it will eat through fuel line if it sits in there for too long. |
what kind of alcohol? rubbing alcohol? methanol?
|
Methanol....you'll need larger injectors. It takes twice the amount of methanol VS gas to combust in the chamber correctly..and the tuning it the reverse of tuning with gas.
Just put the emissions stuff back on and then take it off the next day....that is what i do |

(vintage ChampCar) Methanol is significantly less dense than gas....55 gal drum of M1 weighs about 300 lbs 55 gal of C16 weighs 405 lbs. I know this because i move them around the shop https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png I have had the experience of watching Dave Dalgren tune Jose Perez's 13B on the motor dyno at MWE. The fuel map was backwards from a gas map. (875hp@11,000) |
oh and by the way adam, i post stuff like that when i know that i'm right. So, arguing is futile
gasahol will work miers |

You dont need to change your injectors. Just run your gas low, pour in a gallon or so of alcohol. If it idles rough, add some gas until it doesnt. Then go get it smogged, and drive the rest of that crap out of there. |
put the ****** emission stuff back on you lazy **** LOL
