I put on a high flow cat for inspection season...

So while my car was dead, the inspection lapsed so I want to get it through. I had the presilencer on there for startup and the first 150 miles. It ran great and didn't seem to be running any richer than before.

So I put the high flow on and hoked up the air pipe and all that. No leaks or anything, but there was a little smell. I figured maybe it was just burning out some dirt or something that built up in there.

So today I drive it up to the dealership for some recall action and the person following me up there said the car smelled like burning metal. I'm assuming I kinked the split air tube or something. Anyone else have any ideas as to why my car is doing this?

is the air pump and air control valve WORKING? o2 sensor?

I have no clue if any of that is working. The only thing out of the ordinary is that the little hose between the pipe on the cat and the pipe on the ACV was really tweaked. I had to force it on and I think I may have kinked it shut. Any way to check the air pump? Pull the hose off the air box and feel the suck?

Air pump is sucking really good, so I guess that air is going somwhere.

Would retarted timing help cause this? I just remembered I never put a timing light on my rebuild yet cause it ran so nice, but maybe the exhaust is still burning in the cat.

In a related note, I think my thermowax might have an air bubble or something, because it doesnt seen to do anything.

after more research...

I let the car warm up without touching the throttle. I think the thermowax worked because the idle got down from the usual 1100 to around 700. When I hit the gas though, it went back up to 1100 and stayed there. Maybe just a dirty throttle? The idle didn't go down though until the engine got really hot. usually it sits around 180, but since it was just idling it got up to around 230 (idled good) and then something opened up and it went back down to 180 (idled high). I think maybe that means the thermowax is messed up or something?

Also, unplugging the BAC did nothing. I don't know what that could mean though.
