I got a FD alternator for my S4 T2 (in order to make sure the electrical system could handle the 30+ amp Taurus fan), and I couldn't find a way to really mount it solidly. I ended up just throwing it on there with the thick washer for the S4 alt, and tightening it down as hard as I could. But, after the 45 total minutes that my motor has run, I noticed that the alternator was starting to bind up a little bit. Also, I can't get the bolt out. It turns, but it doesn't seem to be catching any threads, and you can't just yank it out either. I figure I'll just hack, or cut through it and get a new bolt.
But anyway, for those of you who have put FD alts on your S4 T2s, what did you do to mount it solidly? |
Easy it fits with stock belt all you need as a top bolt and nut since the tension bolt location on the fd alt has no thread. you can also use the FC bottom bolt.

Whats that 8Ga(?) wire going to the mounting bolt for? I would assume it is a ground for something, but what? I dont remember that being on my car.

With the TII you have to watch out for the IC.
I rotated the positive arm so i wouldn't touch the top of the IC. I just drilled out the threads and used a bolt too. I don't think you need to drill though, since I never did when I stole one from my FD https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png There are slight variations in FD alternators. I know for a fact there are two different types and one is a little more annoy'n to install due to the casting for a bolt that holds it together. |

Mabey this clarifies a little. I have a 4 Gauge coming off the alt + Side and an 8 Gauge gound directly to my ground distribution plate which is also grounded to the battery directly.

I'll be putting on the s5 TII alt on my fc i need to know which wire on the s5/fd alt goest to which wire on the s4 harness.
