yeah when my FC was stock i shift at like 6 b/c yea u do lose power passed but it fun to show off to your friends about how high u can rev like me and my race port i ahve a motorcycle tack in it and we got it up to 13 and then we put a diffrent carb and now i can not get passed 9. but yea u have to know where you start to lose power at have fun.
|
Thanks! N/A the redline is 7k if I'm not mistaken, I just wanted to know if there was any harm in taking it up to 7.5 or even 8. I love the sound the rotary makes!

theres a fuel cut limiter at 8100...
ask me how i know. |
stock tach slows down @high rpms too, so 7500 on the tach is more like 6900rpms....

I noticed that the stock tach is not very accurate, just driving around town, it seems sluggish to move. But are you sure its that off? it prolly varies car to car |

I'm going to verify it with an aftermarket, and then compensate with my driving TRUE 7,500 RPM's here I come https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif |

Dear Lee, HOW DO YOU KNOWWWWW?????????????????? hahhaa https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif driftin at the track, spun out, slammed it down into 1st and held a burnout as everyone else went by me. lsd unloaded into a one wheel peel, all of the sudden is was around 8 and bouncin off the limiter, i was like oh **** and let off, and bang, big backfire. scared the **** out of me. |
when alex pheiffer drove my 1st gen @ thunderhill, he'd pitch it over turn 5, and hit the gas tach would be pegged @8k and you could still hear the engine revving.... s4 block btw
|
so on a stock s4 you can rev the motor out to 7k safely? i have an intake thats it but never really push my car past 4.5rpms? would that hurt it ?
|
holy babied s4 batman, sell me your car.

So what, the actual rev limiter is at 8100rpm? If you ported it and modified it to suit, but kept standard ECU (if that's possible) it would therefore happily pull to 8100rpm then limiter itself? Sounds good...

eh, i wouldnt go revving to 8k on a tired motor.
mine smokes at redline sometimes, oil or coolant seals, one of the two are old. then theres balance and blah and blah, youre not making any more power, it drops off, slower blah blah. its still fun though, but dangerous. |
