Does anyone know cause both of my fc's have the prob. My 89's switch only works on the 2nd speed, but sometimes the mist, spray, int and the other speeds work. and the wipers never stop at the bottom of the windshield, All this practice has made me pretty good at timing the wiper to stop at the bottom https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/cool.png .

Any info is appreciated. I think someone should do a write-up, theres prob hundreds of people with this annoying prob.

89rag came to look at mine for a fuel prob and explained to me that the easiest thing to do is clean the contact's, mine used to do the same thing, but i guess i used them so often that it stripped the deposit's off enough for the switch to engage when and where it should, rather then rebuild, i'd suggest lookin at the contact's and makeing sure it needs it. i was thinking the same thing, then half a week later mine began working and has worked great since

I soldered in a generic replacement relay.

In the picture you can see the origonal relay & the burned contact residue on the plastic cover.

I soldered leads on the replacement relay (it needs to be DPDT) wired them back to the PCB.

I you are not comfortable with electronics, Mark Mildice the 2nd Gen moderator at RX7club.com rebuilds them.

could you repost please? It doesn't sound like it's that hard, just a few minutes with a soldering iron

I performed this same repair about 5 years back and have not had a problem since. I would attribute some of that to the new relay but the fact that the cover has stayed off where I opened it up (the cut out section that is) makes me think the extra "new" ventalation helps prevent this problem from happening again. Seems to be a heat related thing but that is just my observation. Now to find a new drivers side window, some @sshole busted mine out tonight to get at my stereo but the alarm scared them away. And it was the factory alarm at that. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif After all the accidental false alarms and the cruddy design it actually worked. Awesome,,,,, kinda, I still need a window. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Leave those ventalation holes, don't epoxy the plastic back on and it will last forever.

awesome im gonna order that relay, and solder it in with my new "cold heat" soldering iron. So i guess its makes the wipers stop at the bottom too.
