Hey Guys and Gals,

I have a Jap import S4 87 that has the warning buzzer that goes off when the car is doing over 100K's. This becomes quite annoying on the freeway https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif . I want to stop this from happening but wasnt sure if I could do it without killing the speaker as I think it also beeps for other warnings such as low fuel / high temp etc etc. Has anyone done this before?. Is there a switch or something behind the speedo? If so could you please let me know how and if you had any pics that would be great thanks.

you sure its a 60mph buzzer and maybe not a faulty shift indicator buzzer? 60mph is like 3rd gear, i doubt they'd make 4th and 5th gear full of a loud buzzing nois.

Yeah it's a speed indicator not a rev indicator. It's because the max speed you can do in Japan is 100KPH. That's why they put them in but they stoped doing it in 94 or something I think.

VII13B 10-08-2003 11:38 PM

and it's not a constant buzzer like the shift buzzer. It's more like and electronic bell that goes ding..........ding...............ding............. .....ding like every 5 seconds

wow really? do they give you like 3speed boxes instead of 5speeds or something? cause in the US our top legal speed is like 65mph but we got no buzzers.

im not being sarcastic, i jst cant believe theyn puit a buzzer on for 60mph.

ecu probably grounds whatever makes the noise so disconnect it form ecu would be my very random guess, and not helpful/descriptive at all.

No She's a 5 speed and has a 180KPH speedo. It doesnt stop you from accelarating faster than that it just beeps at you to tell you your speeding. Over here our max speed is 110KPH so it just comes on and gives me the shits when I'm just cruising on the Freeway.

it is in the speedo/dash. same buzzer for coolant and speed i'd presume

I found mine under the steering wheel in my supra..just off to the left or right can't remember..but you just need to clip one wire.

lol i had no idea there was a buzzer to tell you that you were speeding ....

turborotor 10-09-2003 01:46 PM

Is probably in the gauge cluster. just pull that out first

turborotor 10-09-2003 01:48 PM

DOes the bing bing comes from behind the guage cluster or by the cpu on the kick panel?

Sounds like it is from the gauge cluster

Doriman 10-11-2003 01:14 AM

a good way to slove this problem is to just give me the car https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Take the cluster out and check the back panel, you should be able to see markings on the motherboard that may trigger such alarm.

I was thinking, how about if you buy a used cluster from england?
