Over the last couple weeks I've had some wierd, intermittent problems popping up on my '90 TII:
1. Check Engine Light comes on/off for about 10 seconds at a time - then goes away and I don't get a light for the rest of the day. 2. I started getting a "hesitation" between 2000-3000RPM. No matter how much gas I give it between 2000-3000RPM, the engine revs faster but I don't accelerate. Then around 4000RPM the car takes off, like it has a bigger turbo. It isn't a linear acceleration. I have the stock turbo FWIW. Also the engine was recently rebuilt, and I NEVER got 3000RPM hesitation on the original engine. 3. Today, the car starts, but all the gauges are dead except the Speedo. Also, I have no dash electronics (Heat or A/C), but radio works. Mouse Seatbelts don't work, but I have power windows. Stock Alarm also doesn't arm. Can someone point me where I should start looking to root cause all these problems? I suspect they are all related. BTW, I recently had the engine rebuilt & a new Engine Harness put in, if that helps any. Thanks in advance! |
1. check the codes, and see where that leads you
2. see if #1 helps 3. check the fuses, i think you're gonna find the meter fuse blown mike |
i have a simular problem but all my fuses are fine

Checked fuses in the Engine Bay and in the Kick Panel and they are all OK, too. Any other ideas?

check the engine harness ground happened to me during my rebuild. got fixed after i nstalled my ground strap.
|
OK, I'll do that tomorrow. Where is the wire harness ground located?
Also, I did have the Meter Fuse blown - thought I checked all of them. Anyway, I changed the Meter Fuse and the gauges came alive. But then the same fuse blew again when I started the car while I was out & about today. What could be causing the same fuse to blow repeatedly? |
I was thinking grounding issue. Do a search on grounding. I ran a heavy guage wire from a tranny bell housing bolt to the cars frame. With a stock setup there are a few things that need better grounding. You should find those things in a search.
Good luck! |
