How Can I Disable The Stupid "clutch In" To Start?
#21
after my engine lost compression, I used the starter to "drive" my S4 into the garage where it was getting rebuilt... I found it handy to not have the idiot switch.. I also don't have a wall directly behind my S4, problem solved....

well I am not going to mess with it for now. I replaced my clutch master cylinder last night and no more leak so I guess the clutch start thing doesnt matter either.
I dont understand how you guys learned how to drive but I have been driving for 20 years and I ALWAYS and I MEAN ALWAYS! check to see if a car is in gear BEFORE I try to crank it unless it is a auto.
I dont know where it became necessary to have the clutch switch thing.
yes, I see where it would happen and the car might crash into a wall but like I said I grew up learning how to crank a stick and none of them cars ever came with a clutch switch.
that is pretty odd that none of the other versions outside US had this...
for now I will leave it.
thanks for letting me know it can be done.

yeah the people who leave their car in gear when they shut it off and do it purposely i've alwas thought were idiots..... for that exact same reason of starting it up and flying some direction because you didn't pa enough attention to how you shut your car off.

The Miata crowd likes to bypass this. From FlyinMiata.com:
"When you press on your clutch pedal to start the car, you're putting a fair load on your thrust bearing with no oil pressure. With an aftermarket clutch, it's even worse."

Thrust what with no oil where?
As far as I can think.....not a problem in a rotary.

Idiots? Are you kidding?
You completly trust the parking brake?
Thats why you leave it in gear...in case the parking brake slips or fails.....
Man, if somebodys car rolled into mine because the brake failed or not on tight enough and it was out of gear....I would say....they are the idiot.

That is why you make sure your brakes are up to par, if you dont do that YOU are a moron. I have had mine disabled for over a year, I did mine for the remote start, bc in the winter I like for my car to be warm when I get into it.

dont know if this was covered or not, don know if u care either, but by bypassing the slutch to strart im pretty sure the shift lite will be disabled.......i know it never comes on for me casue i leave my foot on the clutch pedal and its always pushed in (taking up the play before the clutch is engaged) just a little fyi
and this is seriouls WAY too much of a thread for someone asking how to disable to clutch to start lol
