[quote name='75 Repu' date='Sep 5 2005, 09:39 AM']the thing about the fc lights is that they never angle downward, they stay pointing straight forward throughout their travel,

Is that a fact? I was under the impression that they pivoted at the rear of the housing just like the rest. Hmm. I've never dealt with FCs up close and personal though, so you would know more than I, I'm sure.

they do pivot about a point at the rear of the light, i dont see how they would stay straight for the entire travel. They may be close to the final position when in the "sleepy" spot, but it wouldnt be the same

yeah they are on a swivel base, the lid is hinged at the rear but the actual light housing stays pointing forward.. its easy to notice if you have the ftps off.. thats why the plastic surround on the healights is two piece.. to allow for the swiveling motion to achieve this.. if not the FTPs would not get much light..

toplessFC3Sman 09-07-2005 04:43 PM

Oh, cool... i wondered why the housings were two-piece.

teknics 09-07-2005 05:13 PM

yea the housings have a dual pivot point, you can take off the side cover plastic of the headlights and watch it in action. It's amazing the am,ount of work put into it, they couldve just done it the same old way but they had to go out and figure out this whole dual pivot thing.

oh and BTW, the only headlight conversion that looks good on an fc requires a whole new bumper, and thats re-amemiya.

Good to know. I'll have to see that up close sometime.

the easyest, cheipest way but not the best, there is a knob above the headlight switch if you stop it in the middle of the knob they will be in sleepy mode but when you turn on your lights they flip back up.

Before even adjusting manually with the knobs, unplug the fuse (under the hood). This prevents returning to the full upright/lowered position
