im thinking of building a caterham 7 kit car and i spotted a turbo II beater for sale for $2000 and thought it would be a nice donor car. Whats the HP/TQ of a stock one?

ive got my dyno chart right here in front of me for my 87 turbo 2

now note that this is an old motor (compression is starting to suffer and hard to start)

122.6 HP at 6900 RPM

128.5 lb/tq at 4000 RPM

this is a stock motor with the HKS 50mm catback

and the stock airbox with NO filter in it

the power rose greatly when i had the injectores cleaned and blue printed but i dont know the actuall numbers

yeah im def going to rebuild the engine myself so thats why i asked for stock HP #'s....buying the WHOLE car for $2k pretty much screams blown engine.

Why do you need a parts car for a kit car? Is the caterham an RX-7 replica?

pengaru 08-09-2003 06:26 PM

caterham 7 is the super 7, lotus sold it to caterham.

pinfield357 08-09-2003 11:03 PM

i think hes mainly looking for the engine

ya my engine is gonna be needing a rebuild here real soon

haha ya try owningthe car that everyone told you should be around 180 HP

although this was a mustang dyno and the guy running it Mike Ancas (wrote a book on 7s) said that mustang dynos read 10-15% lower than a other dynos but he said that he thinks that his numbers are a close to right as possible

p.s. the guy is hugly knowledgabe and a great driver in solo I and solo II racing if you want more info on his book let me know ill get it
