My Horn has worked off and on since I bought it. I guess the electronics are very bad in the ECU's and basically everything on the car, since my radio/Heater Controls, and dash lights all flicker.

Now my Horn is working less than the 95% that is worked before. I read on RX7 club and followed these quick fix instructions.

1. Clean contacts on Relays in ECU

2. Clean Contacts on switches behind steering wheel.

Neither which worked. I chose not to solder the relays because that did nothing for me on the radio and heater controls, I had some soldering in school so I'm pretty decent at it.

Is it possible to hard wire a horn directly to a switch mounted in the wheel or dash? If getting a new steering wheel with horn switches, would you just hard wire a horn st8 through that or would you need to still go through the ECU Relays?

Anyone ever get rid of this problem? If so how did you do it?

try putting 12v directly to the horn it could simply be a bad horn.

^^ That is a good idea. Is the fuse blown? This is the most simplest, but often overlooked for something more serious.

View top comment, it shouldnt be the fuse if it comes on and off randomly, but I did look for it, just didnt see it anywhere. Where is the horn fuse? not next to the ECU or the main under the hood...

I would but our military base requires inspections, and I failed yesterday for the horn not working on command.

So now I can't drive my car on base without it working...

get an air horn

teknics 03-07-2007 05:42 PM

i think there's a horn relay in the engine bay, might want to check that, or just replace it for the hell of it since new relays are cheap

Hey guys!

I resoldered the ECU and she is not had any problems. Thanks for all of your input though! I probably will get a new horn anyway.
