Alright, trying to check the compression on my motor. Motor is out of the car. I have compression tester, battery jumper. I connect positive end to the positive of the starter. Am I doing something seriously wrong here? And the thing won't turn by hand.

What am I doing wrong?

I guess your doing something wrong if your jumping the starter and its not going.

You have it grounded too right?

j9fd3s 10-01-2006 08:37 PM

if it doesnt spin by hand, theres something wrong with the engine

Yeah, it is grounded.

I wondered about that j9, but it turned before this time, which was a few weeks ago. Maybe I should try putting a couple ounces of oil into it. I don't want to put too much, which would be a good amount to put in?

tried that also. it's tough to turn, but it does, just takes alot of brute strength, something that I don't have alot of!

KompressorLOgic 10-03-2006 09:35 PM

if its really hard to turn id be concerned maybe something fell in the engine or something is stuck in there...

j9fd3s 10-04-2006 09:37 AM

yeah, it should almost spin by hand

rowtareh 10-04-2006 04:45 PM

I had the exhaust ports covered up, and the LIM was covered. unless something managed to crawl in there somehow. there really is no way of checking this out without tearing the block apart. something I don't know how to do.

****!!

ill take it off your hands for a few dollars https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png.

Been there, done that and it worked.

It was in a car that sat outside with no tranny and exhaust for almost 2 years, engine was almost seized.

The owner did not put any oil in and left it alone all this time (In Montreal, two winters.....)

Should work, unless something really did fall in there.

rowtareh 10-05-2006 01:38 PM

Yeah, I will try it once I get home. Kev, I won't give up that easily. If I wanted to give up that easily, I would not have taken the car at all.

NotalesS 10-07-2006 03:13 PM

lol, my garage is the land for misfit toys, i take everything people get frustrated with https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png.

im sure youll get it to go, doubt its anything serious. Plus disassembling a motor is easy as hell...assembly is the tricky part.

well, i don't have time to pull a motor apart. i am moving in 3 months, and there's no time for ANY project at all. so yeah, that 88 I wanted is out of the question now!!!
