the first car, my nicer one, will start and drive but you have to hold down the gas to keep her running... if you dont, the engine dies...

we did do a compression test on her, got really lousy numbres (front - 30-30-30, rear - 30-0-30)... and we tested out of the leading hole as well... now wouldnt the car not even run if the compression was that seriously low? maybe my testers shot (got it new not that long ago)... one thing i noticed last week while check the vacume lines, is that the line on the EGR solenoid valve is shreaded.... i plan to replace it soon but that would keep the car from running... would it?

now my second car, the parts car... that one wont start what so ever... we swapped the coils out from the other car to see if that was it, but it wasnt... we did notice that one of the screws that attach the plug to the maf was missing so it was tinkered with at one time... also... another thing that comes into play was that this car sat outside w/o its hood for a few weeks... so any rain we had during that time got the engine compartment wet...

EGR being bad would cause super super super inconsistent idle issues, and in some cases, it won't run at all.

Low compression would cause it not to idle unless you're on the gas, but I do believe it'd run in some fashion.

Letting your engine compartment get a shower is not the smartest thing.

ill pick up some vacume line tomorrow and see if that helps...

and it wasnt me who took the hood off the car and let it sit outside... the previous owner was responcible for that https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

I didn't think of the MAS. I guess I take it for granted as I've never had any on my cars fail...
