About 6 times in the last 9 years I have pulled and replace a motor in an FC. Every time it seemed that I forgot something because I had no order and was removing/installing things just randomly as I remembered them.

After watching the Bruce Turrentine FC removal video I have done two motor swaps. Both times I had a checklist that I refined each time. The first time I just listed the tasks in the order that the video mentioned them. The second time I added notations for the type of tool needed and change the order of some items.

Based on the notes I took from my last motor swap (back in September) I finally updated my spreadsheet and I think it is refined enough to post here. It is still a work in progress and not every task has the required tools listed for it.

Please take a look at it and suggest any changes. And let me know if you use it and find it helpful. I tried to attach it to this post but you cannot upload .xls files.

Enjoy

What do you use to open this(mind you I'm at work, I dont have any kind of software on this ****)? Tried wordpad, noluck...just gibberish.

Is this just S4 -> S4, S5 -> S5?

I took the liberty of uploading it as an html file for the Excel disabled.

thats a cool list. the only thing you might run into is when the cars not stock, but i guess you can just skip.

our race car is

put on jackstands

unbolt motor mounts, tranny bolts, header 14mm

unplug ecu and put harness on engine

remove oil lines

remove coolant hoses

overextend hood

pull engine

oil drain is a 19mm btw

I forgot to mention this list is for a FC non turbo with full accessories. You can just skip over what your car does not have. It has been so long since I owned a T2 I don't remember what it adds to a motor swap (if any at all).

I knew other oil drain plugs were different because the car I was working on when I made the tool list had an aftermarket oil pan bolt (magnetic with built in crush washer). Thus the "?" next to it.

The stock oil drain plug takes a 17 mm socket.
