My car is a 88 tii, with only exhuast and intake. Here what happend: day before yesterday I looked under the car and noticed that a wire hangin there. I thought it was the wire for the OMP (oil metering pump) so I went to kragen and bought some MMO to put in gas. I put in 1 quart MMO (I had 1 quater tank gas). But I also had some NOS Octane Booster as well, that i for got i had in the gas. I drive around and lots of smoke comes out, I guess its cuz I put so much MMO. Then I left it to sit. Then today I start her up, SHE DOESN'T EVEN CRANK! And I get strong gas smell to the left of the IC, and weird buzz noise. this what I think happend: The Octane Booster combine with the huge amount of MMO must have created a lot of carbon inside the engine. This is prolly why there a strong gas smell, cuz i kno the fuel pump goes on for a couple seconds when you put key to start, and the carbon must be blocking fuel er something (that why i smell gas). SO now i'm gonna do ATF trick, and see what happens, but i need ur guy's opinion on this any help greatly appreciated, thx.

also the wire that was hangin is for the OIL THERMO UNIT. It is somehow related to the sub zero assist, according to HAYNES.

i think you flooded it. pull the EGI fuse from the drivers side shock tower. crank a bunch of times. then reinstall the fuse and see if it starts. if not you can try push starting it and popping the clutch

RX7ryder 10-08-2002 09:16 PM

but she doesnt even crank tho. I have a switch wired up to the fuel pump and tried playing around with it turning off and, on, etc. Still nothing. Should I do ATF? so i can get some plugs and a oxy sensor.

vosko 10-08-2002 09:22 PM

it wont' crank ??.................. hmmmmm check battery terminals, check fuses, then pray LOL

RX7ryder 10-08-2002 09:35 PM

well i checked EVERYTHING already, could this be a sign of CARBON LOCK? And yes I will pray tonight.

vosko 10-08-2002 09:39 PM

does the starter make a clicking ?

if it locked up.... dump a whole bunch of ATF or MMO into the spark plug wholes. put the car in 5th gear and push it backwards....

RX7ryder 10-08-2002 09:43 PM

yes i do get a click sound coming from the passenger side. But i'm confused, I thought the MMO is what caused the carbon lock in the first place. Or could it be that MMO+Octane Booster=Carbon lock. But yea I will try ATF trick, thx

vosko 10-08-2002 09:53 PM

i think your starter locked up or the battery is dead. just gotta unlock it and your set!

MMO will not lock a engine. do the atf and roll it you'll be fine https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

hey voska, silly question I have..but what does it do when...you

dump a whole bunch of ATF or MMO into the spark plug wholes. put the car in 5th gear and push it backwards...

atf or MMO is to get rid of carbon and hopefully unlock the engine. when you put it in 5th gear and push it backwards it spins the engine backwards and hopefully unlocks it........ sounds weird but it works. ask me how i know :bigthumg:

1Revvin7 10-08-2002 10:40 PM

i hope u get that fix sounds shitty! i seriouly doubt its locked.. Just bad bad timing, check the starter for sure....

isamu 10-08-2002 11:27 PM

Try compression starting it in 2nd gear. Definitely take the starter off and bench check it or have someone look at it. When the starter decides to go you might not get much forewarning. If it smells gassy under the hood that usually means its getting flooded.

OKIERX-7 10-09-2002 02:31 AM

What happened? Did you get it to work yet?

I woulda thought you had too high of a concentration of oil:gas, but you said it didn't crank.

Rob x-7 10-09-2002 06:05 AM

The question is why did you put the MMO and the other crap in your gas to begin with?

Vos is right on. My first rotory was a locked up junk yard motor that I got free this way. I raced it for 1 year to the day till it puked an apex. Not bad for a $300 motor....

guy who bought my car, i just found out he bought a new starter because he did that fuse trick too much

pengaru 10-11-2002 10:25 PM

starter was probably on it's way out and now the added oil in the combustion chamber has improved sealing and resulted in higher compression than before... and the starter kicks the bucket.

vosko 10-11-2002 10:37 PM

if its not one thint its another. i killed my starter after i killed the engine in the TII... that reminds me... i need a starter!
