https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif OK DAMNIT I still do not have my 88 n/a running IT HAS NO SAPRK i have had a few good suggestions on the evil forum but they did not work the car has fuel pressure i deflooded it. i took the plugs out /w wires still attached and started the car nothing. its been a while and i need a car very soon i took my test light to the two wires on the leading coil and they lit up. what and where are the ground wires that i need to check? the fuses are good and the switch is good i see two green connectors and one black female connector near the coil that aint plugged in what are they? i bought plugs about 2months ago could they be bad ? and i dont think all the plug wires could be bad could they?

You have no spark, yet you timing gun says you do https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif And you are sure its getting fuel, have you done the unflooding procedure?
|
i am using a light tester not a timing gun i used the atf and removed the plug styles i has fuel i removed the hose and fuel shot everywhere thanks for the reply 1revvin

I had to work at deflooding my car several times. For some reason, it seemed I was still getting fuel into the engine unless I pulled both EGI fuses (some say you just need to pull one). With the plugs out, cranking the engine resulted in a large vapor cloud of gas. I cranked it at least three times for maybe 30 seconds each, then put it back together and started it up. |
yea i held a screwdriver in front of it and nothing i installed a fuel cutoff switch and removed the fuse too whe deflooding
|
So when you try to start the car, it just cranks, can you see smoke coming from the exhaust? What happens if you pull the plugs, are they soaked in fuel?
|
yea i see smoke coming out and the plugs have alot of fuel on them
|
compression test please
|
As with the other post, I would also recommend making the ECU tester lights. I have t-shot several cars this way. It will tell you if the ECU is online, and if anything is unplugged, it will flag it as a code. Motor doesnt need to be running.

I had the same problem. No spark. I re-soldered the connectors on the ECU and voila, spark is good. I still have other problems, but at least I have spark.
Also, check to make sure that each coil is grounded. You should read 0 ohms from the coil/igniter exterior to the battery ground. |
I bet its just SUPER flooded.
|
Time for the COMPLEX SUPER UNFLOODING procedure.
Dont have the link handy though.. |
check to see that you are getting good voltage at the leading and trailing coils, the black & yellow wires. Watch it while someone cranks the car.
has your switch been installed this whole time that the thing is misbehaving? Where did you tap into the wiring? |
j-rat where would i get one at ? apex13b why would i need to compression test a rebuild dont mean to sound like an ass just want to know why i would need to. i did not have a problem with spark till after i took the engine out i did nothing with the ecu im thinking a loose ground somewhere because it would be unlikely for both the coil/ignitiors to go out and i did not **** with the ecu the ignition switch is fine and the cas works. what grounds do i need to check out? pengaru i installed the switch about 3days ago and i taped the black wire /w white stripe under the dash i read it off iluvmyrx7

Same thing happened to Bigturbo74's car, it was flooded so bad, that he had to do the unflooding trick several times, and not to mention his spark plugs weren't too hot. You do have Ngk's right? |
yea ngks

did you check the obvious things?
such as the AFM is plugged in as well as the plastic intake tube going from the AFM to the throttle body is not cracked or loose and is bolted fimly in place? |
yea the afm is on but even if tht was loose it would still spark right? so i cant tow a auto right?
|
you cant tow a auto car to get it to start.
I would go with the MMO oil instead of ATF in the engine, let it sit overnight then try to start it but dont let it flood again, have someone crank th ekey a bit and then plug the fuel in and see if it starts, if it doesnt you have to stop the flow of fuel right away or else you will flood it again. how is the plastic intake tube? is it cracked or loose, if there is a crack in it the car wont start |
for the no spark problem i did not have the big ground that goes between the bell housing and starter bolt and i cranked it ( i thought guch put it back on) and i saw smoke coming out of the ground on the passenger side firewall could this have fried my coil and ignitor packs?
