HEY, I need some quick help here!! I've just spent the past 11 hours working on my 7 getting everything out and ready for my new motor install and have come across a BIG problem and need HELP from you guys...I can't get my motor and tranny apart! Serious....it sucks, I've searched and found nothing, talked to a few people and they say "WTF" just like me...this is different then what I have messed with before...they've always just COME apart and didn't act as one piece like this is.. I mean, this sucker has been ready to come out for HOURS!! Everything is unbolted, unhooked, everything, its ready to rock and roll...but its not rolling worth a damn. It's raised up out of the engine mounts with good clearance, got my tranny jack putting some pressure under the tranny evening out the load so you would think the input shaft would slide out of the pressure plate/clutch assy. and everything would be peachy...but its not, not a freaking budge. We've beat the crap out of it, moving it, jerking it, EVERYTHING but it wont break loose from the tranny..this is something I've been told to expect from my car..I don't know why, but would..come on people, I know you have done swaps..why won't my damn motor part with the tranny

Did you remember to take the starter bolts out too?You must be missing a bolt somewhere?Mine came apart with a few swings of a rubber mallet!

You most likely forgot a bolt, make sure you got the ones by the starter (starter has to come off)

theres a nut on the top too. With all the bolts and the nut removed, it really is quite easy to seperate.

Yeah I had this problem before with the engine and trany sticking. the best method if you haven't already is to take offf the engine mounts and rocking her off slowly. Don't do it hard or else you F@Ck up the E-shaft or the trans shaft. The pilot bearing and pilot bearing seal can be very stong. If push comes to shove just put back the trany/engine bolts and lift her up all as one unit. Then get a friend and a two wonder bar and go to town on that bad boy.....Carefully of course. i know it sucks but engine assemble goes smooth at the plant because everything is new. So diassemble should be dirty and a headache because the parts are dirty, woren, and OLD.

P.s. drain the tran fluid before you take it out it the car or else you get a big mess.

Got it, it was lots of grim between the motor/tranny, with some stuck throwout bearing goo, mixed with not enough movement of the motor..I just didn't know what was too much. But I got it out, and everything was just peachy-keen until I went to put my new motor in and discovered I have a broken motor mount. So now Im stuck again....what to get? Stock or Urathane? Anyone got anything good to say about aftermarket mounts?

I have one of my old ones still sitting in the car, not sure what kinda shape it's in... I have the mazdatrix competition mounts to replace them... why don't you just order some from mazdatrix?

Because I need it by saturday. I have to have my engine in and done this weekend. If I can just get a mount I will live with that for awhile..as much as I don't believe in half-assing a job, I have to get my car done. I will order mounts but thats not gonna help me right now...anyone wanna hook me up with a stock mount?
