I'm only gonna have about 3500 bucks, and I wanna know how far this is gonna get me. I'm talking TOTAL cost (minus install cause I can do that). I'm talking ALL parts needed for a COMPLETE TII swap. Please give me a ballpark estimate. Thank you for your time everybody.

Yeah, I'd say you're good...about 3500-4500 is reasonable average for that kind of job.

Have fun, and let us know if you do it and keep us posted on the job!

Great point. Why go through the hassle when you can pick up one? I bought mine for $3500. 87 T2 with 70K miles. Perfect shape except 2 little dings on the pass door.

Ask Rotaryman88 about this. Its almost been 3 years since his car has been on the road. 2 motors later and it's almost alive. Damn J-specs!!

If the car is a vert, then it would be a cool deal to swap. If is just a coupe, just get a TII if you can find one. Sometime you have spend so much money on the shell and suspension tha u just have to swap out the engine and tranny for more power, then do it.

I'm going to be buying a 10th AE TII and buying a <shudder> J-spec TII motor... I really don't want to, but I can't afford a US-spec rebuild, (which I'm going to do later). I'm going to try to rebuild the motor that comes with the TII first, and see what I come up with.... I really hope all this works out.

the car has a bad motor and you are going to replace it with a

j-spec?

why not use the money and rebuild it instead?

if you get the jspec for zero dollars I would gamble and

throw it in.

otherwise why spend the time and money and if the

engine is no good you got nowhere. I can see if you

blew up your motor on Monday and wanted the car running

Wednesday, but your buying the car with a bad engine, take

the time and do it right so you can enjoy the car instead

of it being in 1000 pieces all the time like all the other hacks cars.
