ok before anyone yells at me for being a noob see my point and tell me what you think!

i have had hondas in the passed and i came to a real sports car! and now i was talking to some buddys and we where talking about boost creep. now he was telling me that boost creep is bad for the motor, which i can agree with, but the problem is if you have a stock top mount intercooler your will never get that boost creep to the motor. now how do i come up with that? easy the stock top mount intercooler can handle at max 12 psi and it doesn't hold that much until red line. now i was saying that boost creep is bad for the turbo if you have a stock turbo and a stock tmic. because if the wastegate is too small. all it is going to do is over heat instead of letting the extra flow out the wastegate. am i right about that? let me get your feed back and input on this! now the only reason why i say i had a honda is because we had a civic in the car club and he would suffer from boost creep because of the spot where his wastegate was so it was spike but it never reached his motor because he had a dsm smic and it can only hold like 10-12 psi. his gauge would shoot up to 14 psi at times. so he switched some vaccum hoses and he noticed that it never went past 8psi. so that is why i say boost creep is more damage for a stock turbo with a stock intercooler am i right?

The Stock turbo is only efficient to about 15psi if that, and TMIC is only good for about 11-13psi. Boost creep is bad because well for obvious reasons, maxing out ur turbo and melting the thing, also starving ur engine of fuel, heat soak of the IC, blowing ur damn motor. Unless you have the cooling and fuel to support it, Boost creep is a very bad thing. Only way of getting rid of it is well porting ur WG or getting a different spring.

i understand what your are saying but what i was tring to get at is that boost creep is worst for the turbo if it is all stock correct? and i thought if the ic can handle 11-13 psi doesn't the flow just drop because of the heat?

No boost creep is definetly the worst for ur engine, IE fuel starvation. But yes is also very bad for ur turbo.

that is what i wanted to know because the whole debate was about boost creep being bad for the turbo he told me boost creep doesn't do anything to the turbo

its not really too bad for the turbo, unless its being over spun, in which case the oil seals will die quickly

I would define boost creep as any boost level above what you intend to run. If your motor is set up to run at 10 psi max, and you creep to 12, then you've got a problem if you can't get enough fuel in the engine. If the wastegate is properly sized, and functioning properly, then you shouldn't have any creep.

If you take a stock car, free up the exhaust and intake, but are still running the stock ECU and fuel system, then boost creep might be a problem for you.

Ya thats what I mean by being very bad, it being over spun and burning out.

my car is setup to run about 12- 14lbs. one time I creeped up to 19lbs. I am sure its because of my front mount setup. I think I am gonna port my wastegate.
