Ok I went to look at an 88 Turbo. The body has some dents and scratches but nothing major. It has around 150000 miles but had a rebuilt 15000 ago. Rims, gauges, exhaust, and apexi safc I think, bigger injectors. Doesn’t have air condition or any type of music playing device, some rust on sunroof also the sunroof needs help. The clutch is hard to push down because something is broken. Should I buy this for 4800? Please keep in mind that I live in Hawaii so rotary cars are hard to find. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png

that's a lot of money for a car that has issues

tell the guy you want to take it to a mechanic to have the clutch looked at before you buy

???HP7 05-09-2004 02:33 PM

holy ****...i bought a 87t2 for 2k and all i had to do was replace the O-rings in the lower intake mani. it had a rebuilt motor that was less than 2k on it... you should tell that guy to go F$%K himself. my car has a BEAUtiful interior and everything. NO RUST, and it was from the snow belt in Cleveland. now its blown casue i'm dumb...but yeah that guy's rapin you.

RONIN FC 05-09-2004 06:09 PM

What kind of rims and exhaust? That might change the overall value. But 4800 is a little steep.

marcus7 05-09-2004 09:22 PM

Being in Hawaii may have a huge impact on the price. Isn't everything more expensive there?

Zelgadis21 05-09-2004 09:34 PM

Racing beat exhaust but I want to put in Apexi GTC I don’t know about rims but they look nice and yes most things in Hawaii cost more because of shipping https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png also I found out that Hawaii has no emissions testing. He boosting 10 psi out of the 88 safely

Zelgadis21 05-09-2004 09:38 PM

I forgot if i do buy a car in the main land shipping to Hawaii would be like 1500 to 2500

this is what $2,000 got me , werth every penny, even though it was automatic she was very clean compared to the one i had for $1,500 which wa sall fucked up!

norbak1258 05-10-2004 12:22 PM

I really dont know about hawaii, but I paid 3k for my 88 with 60 +k miles on it. good luck with the 7 hunt, (it took me a few year to by mine)

If you're buying the car in the 48 states, and then shipping it to Hawaii for an additional $2k . . . . . . a dented, scratched, rusted S4 TII with a busted clutch, that's missing it's AC, and has a hole in the dash where the radio goes sounds a little high at $4800. But then again, I haven’t seen the car and the written description may not accurately represent the beauty that’s portrayed in person.

???HP7 05-10-2004 02:30 PM

wow hawaii....welp its still not worth 2800+2k or whatever it works out to be with shipping. and if he's boosting 10psi its not "safe". the stock computer cuts off fuel above stock boost pressures. i saw that there's a piggy back fuel controller... kool. BUT its it tuned on a dyno? are all the wires that were crimped/snipped wrapped up to be free from shorts? ask what's broken with the clutch or have it taken in to see.... i understand you really want a 7 and its hard to find them in Hawaii, but i wouldn't buy this one unless i had $$$$ big loot to work on it.

good luck though... move to louisianna or ohio and you can buy one of my 7's.

Who is trying to rip you off?

Who is selling the car?

I dunno man, that sounds like too much money to be putting out. So are you saying even new cars get their prices raised like that as well?

I would talk him down,it sounds like it needs too much work.

Hell,I just bought a RUNNING T2 that needs minor bodywork for $800 Cdn!

Zelgadis21 05-11-2004 05:23 AM

I asked him the things he had done to the car

Rebuilt engine with 3mm apex seals street port

act stage 3 clutch

Stainless Steel clutch line

Aluminum Flywhelel with stainless Steel contract ring

removed emissions

cone filter

turbo XS boost controller

Cleaned primary 550 cc injectors

Upgrded 720 cc secondary injectors

New fuel lines

DEFI Boost and Egt gauges

Autometer water temp and oil pressure gauges

Eibach 1.8" drop springs

18" Konig rims

SAF-C

Throttle body mod

Greddy Turbo timer

I'm not sure whats wrong with the clutch but my friend said that it will cost me 570 to change it back to stock **** i think but i will talk to him and try to understand what i got to fix I dont know much about cars so thank you for your help. yes I know its alot but its this FC or I will have to buy a civic or some FF ****.

RETed 05-11-2004 09:45 AM

Again I ask, who's car is this?

Yes, I'm in Hawaii.

Is this in Honolulu or at least on Oahu?

I've never heard of such an FC...

BTW, shipping from the west coast port city is right under $1,000.

Jims5543 05-11-2004 10:26 AM

The clutch problem could be as simple as worn out master and/or slave cylinders.

That car has a lot of expensive mods done to it. A well done rebuilt street ported engine with 3mm apex seals cost me 4700 to give you and idea of what he has into the car. No matter what he is loosing big money on it.

Of course unless you have a reciept for the rebuild you'll have no idea who did it and if it was done right.

Jims5543 05-11-2004 10:32 AM

Oh! BTW- with the fuel upgrades listed (I would inquire if the fuel pump was upgraded) you "should" be O.K. at 10 PSI. If you purchase it I would look into dynoing it to make sure your A/F ratios are good and safe.

ROTARYROCKET7 - No offense, your car is super clean and really nice, but, you cannot compare the value of an Automatic N/A to a TII. Your looking into a 5 speed swap arent you? Most people shy away from Automatics so their resale tends to be lower.

Zelgadis21 05-11-2004 01:53 PM

It was the white FC in Islandpreviews that was going around 5500 The guys name was Scott this is all on Oahu, yeah he has a walbro fuel pump. Ted do you know any good rotary shops on Oahu? http://www.islandpreviews.com/main/modules...php?ad_id=13454
