I have a 1987 Turbo II and it just won't start anymore!

I tried a few things since I last wrote to the Forum and I now have more precisions on the symptoms.

Things I know

-The problem first appeared on a few occasions, then more and more often.

-It's not flooded and the problem is electrical.

-If I push start it, it will start.

What it does

I checked for spark on all of the 4 spark plugs and noticed the same result on each of them. When I turn the key and the engine starts to crank, there's one spark at the beginning and then nothing. Curiously, if I let the key go back to the ON position and try again to start, there's no spark at all!?!?

If I turn the key back to the OFF position and then try to start again, same thing as before...only one spark when the engine starts to crank!

Things I did

I changed the plugs, the wires, the coil/igniter sets and it made no change. I also checked the crank angle sensor by measuring the resistance and it turned out OK. After push starting it and driving it for a while, I am succesful in starting it once or twice after but then it's back to "no starting".

WHAT COULD IT BE???

I suspect it could be the ECU. Is it possible? I have a 1986 GXL for spares, can I try the ECU from that car on the TII without doing any damage?

I NEED HELP, I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO TRY ANYMORE!?!?!?!?

The ECU from the GXL shouldn't do any damage, but I don't think it will work with the TII. You should check your ignition wires in your steering column to see if they are still connected and to see if they are damaged. You may also want to check your starter sileniod. It may be going bad and keeping you car from starting.
