i have a 98 na and it starts up fine...it doesnt idle till it warms up but im not too woried about that at the moment. My biggest concern is that one it runs and it warmed up i can drive it for about a 1/2 hour or so then the check engine light comes on and i can put the pedal to the floor and the r's dont go abouv 3.5k.....all i have to do to fix it is turn it off and start er up again and im good fer another 1/2 hour.....whats the prob anybody????

hows the temperature looking, cool have something to do with the cooling system, or a cooling sensor.

Pull the codes from the computer.

I justed started in the rotary world, but how bout an O2 sensor. I know those need some time to warm up before they will start to work.

It sounds like your car is going into a limp mode. You have to check your computer error codes. Get a hayes manual it should explain the codes.

so the engine light is out now? did you find any codes? how is it running?

make sure you check your thermostat, overflow tank, etc if it is heating up like you said... don't drive it around and kill it

MaZDaRx7sPeeD 07-10-2003 05:32 PM

no its still there... i hook the wires up like it says and the light just goes out and doesnt come back on untill i unhook it, there is no flashing or stuff that the link says its supposed to do and it only overheats if i like rev it in netural or if it idles fer like 10mins help??

FCmaniac 07-10-2003 05:52 PM

It overheats after idling for 10 minutes?! Diagnose and fix that first.. screw the ECU for now. Is your fan even spinning??! Is there any coolant in the reservoir? Are there any noticeable leaks or smoke? Start from scratch with this man.

MaZDaRx7sPeeD 07-10-2003 06:11 PM

well maybe im underexagerating a little...ya the fan is spinning..im not driving it untill eveything works cuz like you said i dont wanna hurt it...i think there is probably a leak all the fluid levels are ok but when i 1st got it it didnt run..i got it runnin and when i was at a gas station fillin up the tires a rad. hose blew up cuz it was all dry rotted soo should i start w/ new hoses..new thermostat.how do you check and make sure your water pump is ok???

FCmaniac 07-10-2003 06:43 PM

the pump has a small hole under the pulley.. check and see if coolant is coming out of there

MaZDaRx7sPeeD 07-10-2003 06:50 PM

just did....warmed her up and from what i can see-feel there is no water under there..but the whole water pump assembly is prettty rusty compared to everything else.... does that maybe mean anything?
