well im not talkin about cheezy riced out kits, i hate rice. (though it tastes good. im korean and eat it everyday.)

yea that half open look is nice. the 'sleep eye' look i've heard it called. how do you do it? disconnect the headlight motor and manually crank it? but i'd still want better headlights in there, for better illumination.

i have the hella h4 housings with 120w bulbs in it, its nicer that stock but the fc lights are decent to start with

thats just a different bulb though right?

Apex13B 12-09-2002 08:10 PM

sylvainia makes a "cool blue" 6064 bulb that is really bright and not blue..they are really white

Apex13B 12-09-2002 08:10 PM

i swear by them! :bigok:

thanks guys.

anyone know a good site to look at some pics?

still waiting on how to get the half open look.

j9fd3s 12-09-2002 08:31 PM

the half open look is easy, under the hood you will find the retractor fuse, pull it. and then under the car is the manual knobs for the headlight motors, turn them until you have sleepy lights

I think it was Mazdaspeed or Veilside that had a conversion kit for a 2nd gen to change them from popups. It's like two grand though.

check it out.

Corksport sells a H4 kit for $55.

mazdaspeed101 12-10-2002 06:10 AM

I seen some rx-7s with the sleepy eye with fog lights in there instead, looked ok

You could also rig a smaller rod to replace the long one so it only raises the lights to where you want them.

Personally I think its cheesy to have the half up lights, and I dont see how it would improve lighting.

j9fd3s 12-10-2002 04:33 PM

the sleepy eye thing makes the headlights near useless

mike

Rob x-7 12-10-2002 04:46 PM

i guess you could in theory run with your highbeams on all the time, but its still useless as far as increased driving illumination.

I have the kit in my car so the car takes the super white DOT legal 9004 bulbs, the light is much whiter and it made a difference as far as night driving goes.

Technically your lights can only be 55watts, anything brighter is illegal.

foopy 12-10-2002 09:12 PM

sleepy eye cuz regular pop ups seem too big and bulky. of course its just personal aesthetic choice.

do most of your veterans just use the stock headlights? no one does convos? no one replaces their bulbs?

im just trying to get a general feel of wut is out there and wut you guys suggest. thanks again.
