as we all kno, for n/a's you can put a great cone filter, replacing the stock airfilter. this leaves the airfilter near the right headlight, now i KNOW ive seen some sort of set up, where on the rite head light there is a slot for air, so more (colder) air reaches the cone.

btw, im inquiring about s5 n/a's. though im sure it'd be the same for any fc3s n/a.

just wondering if anyone knows wut im talkin about, and how to do it. pics? website? thanks in advance.

btw, i have no idea wut i was thinking when i named the topic....sorry about that.

Try this...

They're neat, but you gotta get 'em painted to match the car.

Or this...

I have the KSP cover from Rotary Performance. I painted it to match. It looks nice but really doesn't do much for cold air. You can't really get much cold air to the intake without cutting somewhere or rerouting your filter in front of the rad like at http://www.1300cc.com.

The KSP looks a lot nicer than the Mariah IMO.... Also, I think Corksport sells them now too.

im not sure those things are at all functional. Id be curious to see if those things actually duct air at speed. I think thats a low pressure area.

j9fd3s 12-03-2002 02:52 PM

well not to mention the big rubber flap on the hood that blocks any kind of scoopage

hey thanks for the feedback you guys are great. yea that first thing is wut i saw. headlight thingy

thas wut i want. but only if it actually works. obviously the site claims it works, but i'd like some opinions from the guys that have used it, or have knowledge of it. thanks again.

oh, and my s5 is white. =) no painting required.

Turbo II 12-03-2002 03:08 PM

ive never seen that before, im a turbo kinda man

1Revvin7 12-03-2002 03:33 PM

U will want it painted, even though they look white they are just primed, I have one on my ride, and i really wonder if it helps....

little off topic, but where can I find a how-to on relocating intake in front of radiator? I looked on 1300cc but couldn't find it

It's on there: http://www.1300cc.com/howto/how2/frontend/phase4.htm

He moved his rad back, moved the coolant tank, and made custom piping from the airflow meter...

Unless you think it looks that good, don't waste the money on the headlight duct. Even with the hood flappy rubber **** cut out and a cold air box fabricated, it still doesn't give much cold air. The hole on the KSP cover is like 3/4" high by 2" wide.

Baldy 12-04-2002 12:29 PM

So assuming the headlight duct is not functional, and relocating air intake in front of rad would be the best bet, I'll continue with my next question:

Looking at the 1300cc site, I was wondering if there's a way to relocate the air intake if I not replacing and relocating the radiator. Info appreciated.

Ok, that wasn't actually a question, but you get the idea.

j9fd3s 12-04-2002 12:57 PM

you can cut the radiator support....

mike

Baldy 12-04-2002 01:08 PM

cool...I can't wait to try this, hopefully come February...

foopy 12-04-2002 02:38 PM

hey baldy, if you switch your air intake to infront of your radiator, you gonna keep the headlight scoop? if not, i can provide some money and my home address. eggcellent.

Baldy 12-04-2002 02:40 PM

I don't have a headlight scoop, I was just weighing the options

1Revvin7 12-04-2002 03:37 PM

U could remove the windshield washer fluid resovoir and cut through the chassis into the passenger side brake duct.

that's a good idea... have you done that??

foopy 12-04-2002 10:29 PM

who needs windshield wiper fluid if you dun have windshield wipers? that rain-ex crap is great... havent used it on snow yet (hope it still works, or im fuxed).

but does the above work? any details? links? pics? etc?

thanks.

like j9fd3s said:

teh rubber piece on the hood behind the headlight cover blocks any air from coming if...so if you get one of the scoop covers...make sure you take that rubber piece off or the scoop is definataly not working! haha
