erg? whats that, my ports are not stuck open but here's the thing i don't know if anyone elses na does this but from 1-3k it's slow then @ 4k it starts to pull but @6k it's like a kick in the pants then it pulls hard is it supposed to be like that or am i supposed to feel it pull evenly from 3800 to 6k? my ports are not stuck and i know they work b/c i pulled them and pressurized them and they moved. so if they are opening late what would cause this?

wooops im retarded haha EGR .

The EGR valve helps your car more efficiently and completely burn fuel by recirculating a portion of your exhaust and running it through the combustion process again. This results in a cooler, more complete burn of the fuel which decreases you car's noxious emissions by prohibiting the formation of some harmful gases.

got that from a site .. but if its not holding pressure it can cause a **** load of things . stalling, bucking ,lack of torque / power. i thought it was the horrible 3800 stumble but that"s more of a hick-up . but what ever. you can block it off with a plate . it's located on top of the mid housing under all that fun stuff called the dynamic chamber . try to get a hold of a haynes book for the car it helps.

you can also remove those rotating valves you were asking about . you loose little lower torque , your top end gets a little more power but nothing to go all crazy about .

my 87 n/a ran great with the egr blocked off and the valves removed

side note you have a 90 so things might not work like said . your engine is set up alittle different

jamest16748500 11-11-2008 06:47 PM

could an exhaust leak cause this problem?

13before20 11-13-2008 06:19 PM

nah .. not leak anyway . how is you exuast system anyway ? stock cat or custom? . is it hot or cold when this happens?

seems to happen more when it's warm. stock cat stock exhaust with a huge hole in the pipe before the muffler. i thought the cat might be getting plugged so i'm waiting for my test pipe.

My S5 n/a feels like that too. Some days it kicks ass and others it feels like there is no pick up.
