Ok guys here is a good one !! As in my last post my 88 13B non turbo starts hard after sitting over night or after 45 min. when warm. It acts like it is flooded and I have had to unflood it several times. The tech working on it has replaced the coolant sensor and does not believe it is the injectors. I do have the fuel bleed off installed on the fuel lines however it sure seems like an injector problem. But lets say it is not the injectors, what else could cause a flooding problem after several minutes, if you start it 5 min. after shut down it does fine sometimes it will start fine after 20 min...but 45 minutes chug chug chug then it runs fine.......This is a test.. :frown:

i have heard that the fuel pump keeps pressure for some time after the car is shutoff, so maybe your injectors are leaking and since fuel pressure is kept on, it makes them flood. I'd say its your injectors, i know there is a way to test, with ohms, but i can't remember, if it comes down to it have them sent in to...ah.....i can't remember the name, i did it worths the $100. someone will tell u just give it a day.

Take the injector bleed off out (put it back to stock) and buy a $40 fuel pressure gauge and you can verify the injectors are not leaking.



Just for the heck of it I put a AutoMeter fuel pressure guage on the side of my motor when I swaped it. It has helped me numerous times. My motor shows fuel pressure for quite some time after it is turned off.



My guess would be a timing, or leaky injector problem. Another quick way to tell if you are flooded would be to put a timing light on each plug wire. Flooded plugs usually don't fire.

Just out of curiosity, how is your compression? Does the car run fine and strong after warming up? I know this may sound dumb...but your seals may be "sticking" so to speak. If you have been driving the car a lot lately w/out running it hard, it may be building up a lot of excess carbon and disturbing the APEX seals...thats a long shot and worse case scenario(just my crazy brain trying to think of something nobody else was). If not, I'd say injectors are bad....

The motor has 10,000 miles on it, but I dont have a compression tester. It runs fine after it starts, real strong, I wish it was bad seals, still under warranty.I will put a guage on the fuel lines and verify the injectors are not leaking..... ???

I looked in my factory repair book, and it does list some **** called hot start assist, what in gods name this is I dont know.

Well my friend, the famos hot start is just before our engines are about to go south, low compression. What is does is it starts to turn the engine without spark. This allows for the engine to get rid of the exess gas. Hope this helps.

have you tried a fuel cut off switch ? most hard starts are caused by leaking injectors. or unburnt fuel still in the chamber after you cut off the ignition switch. i had the same prob w/ mine(88 vert na ), installed the switch and no more hard starts. if you want the info on it e-mail me and i will reply.
