before modding I want to do alot of maintenance and precautionary stuff for my 86 n/a FC
Which guages are most beneficial or important to keep track of. What would you need / recommend, in what order, and why you should be aware of certain conditions. Plus where these readings should be on a fairly stock motor for optimum performance and the safest running conditions. Im thinking my topic can later be edited and this would make a great sticky for newb's! Thanks... |
temp and oil pressure
|
water temp, oil presure and temp. on a na are the most important
|
Ok, guys with experience want to add a basic explanation (for the inexperienced)
And what these readings should be on the na fc. Also, any links to a "how-to" write up for the 7. It would benefit alot. |
If you're replacing your gauges, you'd want more accurate ones than stock... or are you just after lots of gauges?
The factory Water temp is an idiot-gauge; it only has cold, normal, and 'too late' The factory Oil pressure SENDER is a joke, and the gauge is inaccurate. There is no Oil temp gauge. After those 3; buy an S-AFC and get A/F gauge and lastly EGT. Any other gauges and you're a ricer. |

Your correct... a a/f guage is just for show. So i was trying to put together some useful info... i got the basics laid out. I know what guages are best and most beneficial in most applications. I wanted to see what would be the big things for the 7. ALSO: What are the readings supposed to be within for each guage/measurement? THats the biggest thing that most dont know (and including myself on this one) |
